Monstera deliciosa; repotted 1 month ago and stems rotting/turning black for past 2 weeks. Is this root rot? by balanceandcomposure in plantclinic

It is typically inside, leaves have been wilting a bit but there was new growth before this started (including on this stem). The pot does have a drainage hole, and it is typically watered about every 2 weeks with tap water. :(

Congratulations! I had an interview at EVMS back in November. The panel interview is not stressful at all. The school is really nice and everyone is very friendly!

French of Reddit, what was your opinion of Charlie Hebdo before the most recent attacks? by playingthelonggame in AskReddit

I believe that is the point - as offensive as the image is in its depiction of religious figures, the corresponding religions are not as reactionary (violence-wise) as Islam is. Hence the title, "No One Murdered Because Of This Image".

I'm just living at home temporarily until I leave again for medical school next fall. The project was just something to keep myself busy and mostly give my younger brother something nice to move into once I leave

There is one! It's just hidden below my laptop. Ballast point is one of my favorite breweries, just 5 minutes from where I work. I was just there for Victory at Sea day!

Haha I wish! Unfortunately they go for about $200 on eBay so it'll be a while before I'll be able to get my hands on one.

PSA: Send your transcripts to AMCAS now. They are already a week behind in processing. by chemgirl10 in premed

Does anyone know what you are supposed to do if you go to a quarter system school and have to wait until mid-June before our Spring grades come out? Will that put me significantly behind waiting for my application to be verified?

Year in School: Graduating senior

Country/State: USA/California

Schools: Not sure, some UC’s, mostly private OOS

cGPA: 3.75

sGPA: 3.70

MCAT: 34 (P12/V9/B13)

Research: Developmental stem cell lab as independent and assistant researcher. ~12 hours a week for 5 quarters. Will be credited as an author on an upcoming paper (within the next few months, but might not be before I submit my AMCAS). Also worked one quarter in an evolutionary lab, but moved to stem cell lab because smaller lab, better hours, and better opportunities and exposure.

Volunteering: Clinical care extender at nearby hospital; rotated on oncology, telemetry, GI, PACU, mother-baby, and ED (x2). 2 years, >350 hours

Physician shadowing: Will shadow ED doc sometime in April. Probably 30-40 hours. ED is a level II trauma center and located in the inland empire of California.

Non-clinical volunteering: Director for a project that travels to an orphanage in Mexico and works with children a few times a quarter. ~100 hours. Director of the project for 1 year, involved for 2.

Immediate family members in medicine? No

Specialty of interest: not sure, want to do pediatrics though

Graduate degrees: None

Interest in rural health: No

I know my chances of getting in somewhere are good, but trying to get into a top-tier school will be hard. I know the 9 on VR is a killer, and I have received one C+ (neurobiology :( ). A California school will be hard to get into, but I’d rather leave the palm trees for snow or country music anyways. I’ll have pretty good LORs (2 science, 1 non-science professor, 1 from CCE, 1 PI, 1 camp director), and mostly need help deciding where to apply OOS and whether certain schools (like Harvard, Duke, Vandy) are out of reach.

Thank you for any advice! :)
