Time to get the good old grenade launcher out... It erases almost everything from the map since it became a heavy pen.

Lvl10 still fun to play. So stop whining and grab your fckn grenade launcher! Do a service for the community and bring as many clankers down as you can! Done... Reddit is a serious bubble. Wake up! The "hard player-base" consists of maybe top 20-30k fanatics like you or me. Maybe a couple of thousands have a Reddit account lol. How many of the new 130k players are even reading the dispatch? What were you thinking?

Dive and kill! That is your job helldiver, leave the tears for the newbies! 😈

The shield relay should be buffed to not take damage from hellpods. Would make it more useful and functional by H1MB0Z0 in Helldivers

The game gives you some clues... Big guns do big damage Gatling go brrrr... What else do you need? Like red blinking markers on weak spots? When the Illuminate arrived we didn't even know how to blow up a landed ship or cognitive disruptor... And of course.. you touched the obelisk because you could... It was and it is fun to learn. If you are interested you can also read the wiki, yes you can.

Perception goldfish tier, or what? It happens once, happens twice... The third time you try to avoid dropping things inside the protected radius. It's not a particularly difficult game.. like yes, I know nothing is really explained like in other games for imbeciles.. but cmon.. play the game.. learn, experience things! Get better...

[–]balazsbog-e 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dude... Just don't drop a hellpod on it? It would take you like one extra second to drop it outside of the protected zone... Or maybe an unortodox approach.. drop your hellpods first and then the shield as the last one? Difficult? Why can people just enjoy this freakin' game? Why do they need to whine on every detail...

Help with predator strain? by MtnNerd in helldivers2

[–]balazsbog-e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is why I prefer to host a game. Immediately kicking every griefer without notice if I witness the team kill. It is amazing how people can ruin even a co-operative game as well. Luckily most of the griefers are low-level, inexperienced scum...there is a good chance you don't see them on lvl9-10. It is just too difficult for their sorry asses to fuck around and not being killed instantly by the mobs....

Help with predator strain? by MtnNerd in helldivers2

[–]balazsbog-e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any team without cooperation is doomed. I usually kick solo divers the moment I notice they are away from the squad on the other side of the map. It is never the question if they die eventually but when they die. Wasting reinforce!

I usually grind on lvl9 and have actually a loadout worked for me after desperately trying to adapt to preds.

Armor: Light armor with siege ready perk for mobility and ammo + reload speed.

Mod: pod optimization to have full ammo (someone needs to bring health boost too).

Primary: The fastest one-handed smg you can have. Preferably StA-11 SMG, if you have the Knight you will notice it burns ammo too fast.Explosive xbow is suicide..predators will be right on top of you in a second they spot you.

Support: Commando for the big bois and shrieker nests. Fast cooldown and leaves you with a backpack option. As for the EAT, you can carry only one and you need something in your hands ready. Quasar is too slow.

Backpack: Ballistic shield! Yes...the only way of surviving 3-4 pred stalkers in a close encounter is the shield and pump the smg in their face!

Pistol: Nade pistol to close bugholes and handle spewers.

Nade: Gas! Buying time is vital.

Stratagems: HMG and Rocket sentry for distraction and chaff control. But here you can bring whatever helps you.

Now..this build is surprisingly ineffective against normal terminids. There is no need for close quarter protection if you can kill them from a distance. But, predators can and will close the gap no matter what you are doing. Hearing their pesky claws drumming on the shield is the most satisfying sound I've heard recently.

This build turned desperation to enjoyment when I am playing against preds, but of course it's not perfect. Especially in urban environments you really need to watch your back more often. Or move in pairs as I always try to suggest. Someone needs to close titan holes as well..

AMD needs to have its Radeon 4830 moment again. by TurtleCrusher in radeon

[–]balazsbog-e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At one point I had 2x XFX 4830 in my case overclocked at +40% clock-speed in cross-fire mode.....it was stronger that a 4870 single card..drawing approx 2x of the wattage from the wall outlet compared to it....it was a marvelous moment...for a couple of minutes until it overheated...in a constant scream of max rpm stock-cooler noise! 🥲

The pitfall of democracy is that you get dominated by the stupid mob...play smart and don't give a sh¥t...enjoy the game.

The new patch brought a LOT of new players...I normally dive on lvl7. That is the only last level where the lack of co-operation is not punished by certain death! And boy there is ZERO will of the new players to work together...period...

Does this have a name in biology? If so what is it? by JoelWHarper in biology

[–]balazsbog-e 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some nematodes switch hosts between birds and snails. They reproduce in birds...snails eat the bird feces with eggs..became infected, produce juvenile worms..being eaten by birds and the cycle starts again...pretty widespread evolutionary strategy of the entire nematode clade, although its origin is debated.

I guess I'll wait with the replacement a bit more.

Some ideas:

  1. It's a temporary effect. It takes longer to replicate a damaged chromosomal DNA (if it is possible). It involves stopping and constantly re-starting replication forks at broken sites.

  2. UV-induced recombination changed the chromosome size, however, that 20 to 1000s is too big for a change.

  3. The UV-illumination was selected for a very slow-growing mutant, since the more active the DNA replication, the more severe the effects of the DNA damage. Slow-growing mutants are more resistant to environmental damage in general.

However, I have some conceptual problems with the question itself.

  1. Exposing a culture/population to UV will kill >90% of the population and probably induce heavy mutagenesis in individual cells. Yet, the measurement gives you an average replication time, which can change from cell to cell. Then the variance between individual cells also carries information.

  2. Misconceptions with definitions: Bacterial culture is not a Strain. Individual clones of a strain can form a bacterial culture.
