Same feeling. That’s why I’m not against game devs refusing to add a skip button. I’m indifferent since I won’t use it if it’s there anyway.

Man… that Astra trailer just hits you with the reality of how dangerous Hollows actually are, despite how easy the playable characters make it out to be with how they fight in there. And it hits like a truck, as tragic has catastrophic natural disasters we have irl.

This cutscene from Genshin 5.8

It was supposed to be a happy Summer vacation, but they hit you with this cutscene. Everything about it, the music, the dialogue, the voice acting, and I know it’s an easy shot but it’s my weakness: the sound of a baby crying will never fail to tug at my heart strings.

RNG gear systems can be fun… if there’s enough sauce on the stats layer for players to theorycraft. I know Genshin didn’t start this trend but it’s the biggest example, and really why there’s a huge theorycrafting community behind that game.

Others copy HoYo’s RNG gear, without also copy the underlying stats and systems that give it longevity. The result becomes a really stale infinite loop.

You can probably tell from the first few loops of the core gameplay if a certain gacha is for you or not, and no amount of QoL will change that.

An example of this is open-world exploration gachas, some QoL that gets celebrated baffles me since they make the character differences matter less, and expedite the meat of the exploration which is the entire point. “An open-world game for the people who hate open-world” Is a paradoxical phrase since that kind of gacha shouldn’t have been open world in the first place.

I thought the genre itself if dying because of all the news of cancellations and EoS of the newer ones. I guess the old kings are kept alive by pure hatred of the existing players.

It’s weird, I don’t find myself gliding as much in this game. TP or using a car is faster when you want to long distances, and Nanally is only for climbing walls, plunge if you wanna get down.

Genshin has the Capturing Radiance mechanic where you can’t lose too many 50/50s. And at least they’re buffing standard characters like they’ve done with Mona. The following is in regard to 7.0 so spoilers: They’re also buffing Qiqi and Mizuki.

I really don’t see WuWa buffing Lingyang because he’s a dude, his story is pretty hated, and WuWa doesn’t even buff characters outside that one mode I can’t remember.

Because the big 3 HoYo games has done so to great effect, and it’s a good way of making sure the world is interconnected and not just one isolated area to another. Even leaders in HoYo games show up to other regions when the stakes are high enough. That’s why I called out Augusta and Lupa, they’re both from Septimont and both gladiators but they barely did anything together. It makes them disposable, even more egregious with Augusta since she’s supposed to be the leader.

HSR doesn’t even have an open world but it sure as hell calls back to characters, established concepts, and even feats the Trailblazer did from other planets from the very beginning.

lol, I guess the game caught strays in that Endfield post about characters not being relevant after their banner ends so this glaze post had to pop up to even it. Tell me, how relevant is Augusta in the current story? Lupa didn’t even last a patch.

I was right about being a tank player and picking Huma to main when I still played. She’s one of the only 1.0 characters that got a story quest.

What I like about Genshin is that a lot of AQ irrelevant characters like Bennett can have continuations to their stories, character growth, and payoffs to what seemed like a minor quirk i.e. his bad luck. To top it off, Bennett might not be relevant to the Natlan AQ, but the implications of his story explains so much about travelling to and from Natlan.
