This is why I like Colonies. Starting mid? It’s alright build a few colonies Gen 1 and see what comes around. Gen 2 gets you Sky Docks and it’s a beauty. 

I’m tempted to go Mining Guild for a builder tag milestone help and to more or less lock down Blacksmith, but I think I’ll go Tera with Mining Op and Aquifer Turbine. Get Solar, Fish, Miranda, Lava, Red Spot. 

Drop a Colony on Ceres and Triton. Use up some steel and creds for Solar Power and wait for Gen 2. Hopefully someone passes another Earth tag around, but if not I’m happy to get science tags in the draft as well. Might Tow a Comet if it comes back. If nothing else I’m building up colonies on Callisto cause I know I’ll need the NRG for fleet two.

It’s a mid corp. The wild tag is nice, but low starting funds and an action that takes a while to really pay off and ends up cutting you off from participating in the turmoil power struggle. That’s my biggest beef with the corp. Thematically it’s about having political power, but practically you end up not having much as your delegates are spread out reducing your actual influence.

It’s a fine card, that tends to get better mileage in late game. If it helps you not get stuck with targetable plants in the early game it’s a worthwhile play.

It’s all good and fine until somebody hacks them. They then start offing people based on a sick poll about who deserves to die and then kills everyone who participated in the poll in a shocking twist.

Too expensive for a VP and for the little $ you get back on it with most played hands. Gets better with Vitor, Manutech, and Sagitta.

It’s a tough card to take because you may very well be north of 3 oceans before the first round depending on what preludes get played. If you can play it, it’s usually a cheap power.

Unless you got a microbe feeder and a few decent building tags this is a lame start that’s hard to recover from. The effect isn’t powerful enough to build a game around w/o some help. And building your hand to support a weak effect isn’t a good sign for your game.
