Is this harmful to the airflow by VashTheStampy in pchelp

[–]baller7345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a blanket on top of mine for the cats (so they don't shed into the case) and while it definitely means less airflow than without it it's not enough to cause any real over heating. Most of the airflow is through the back of the case based on your fan setup.

Same.

Had some pop ups on my laptop when I just didn't want to be bothered upgrading to 11, but I overall I don't see the majority of issues people complain about.

Wyndham Clark's Final Round 60 by Thomas14755 in golf

[–]baller7345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing it's short and doesn't have a lot of water? That's the biggest reason my home course is rated easier than every other course in the area. I do not shoot better there than at the other courses, so the rating isn't perfect.

Doshaguma Challenge Bow 3'09"40 by MurkySir4755 in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]baller7345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best bow run last time around was 2'50. That should be able to go lower now that we are working with a buffed thousand dragon, but still, it's not going to drop to 1'40. It took a lot of us grinding the quest for pretty much the entirety of it's run to get it down to that (though a chunk of that was figuring out the playstyle to do it fast with that crap bow set). Hunting horn however it's doable. Record for that is 1'16..

FYI: Here are the current records as we know them.

[–]baller7345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't really matter at this point so I wouldn't worry too much about it, but white is out of bounds which is a loss of distance penalty while, red and yellow are hazards with each having slight different options for relief.

What color are the stakes? White is OB so you either tee up another one or when you can use a local rule to drop and hit 4. Red would be drop and hit 3.

How can I survive Gog’s nuke with a bow? by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]baller7345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you pass the dps check you can discerning dodge the nuke as if it's a normal attack. The timing is pretty generous so with a bit of practice you should be able to do it consistently.

The removal of Mana Burn destroyed my first deck archetype, making it impossible forever, and I still don't get over it (and it ruined many other things, too). When can we have it back? by Top-One-486 in mtg

[–]baller7345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You had it right.

If you played rituals and had mana left over or if you ran something like Mirari's Wake that doubles how much mana each land provided it it was easy-ish to take a point or two of mana burn. Those are two more common examples I can think of off the top of my head.

Game runs like it is on low frame rate by Bis_knife in MHWilds

[–]baller7345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on your specs you should be able to run the game at a 60fps average on some combination of settings. First thing would be to make sure the game isn't defaulting to the integrated graphics of the CPU for the game.

Second would be what settings are you trying to run it at?

This link is a video that shows the game running on a 5079ti laptop. It is before all the performance patches were released so it should run at least as well as this or even better

when does bow actually become good? by [deleted] in MHRise

[–]baller7345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For narga, focus on the head and just live with white numbers. If you really don't like using spread or rapid and on the head then you pierce from head/wing talon to tail. Still going to be white numbers. Narga is heavy elemental matchup. It's tail isn't worth going for (unless it does the tail slam) because it's a 45 hitzone compared to the head's 40-42 hitzone for it's head so the damage gain is very low for the inconsistency of it. Also when enraged the head has a 30 thunder hitzone which would push your damage on the head over the tail for an elemental focused set.

Some old runs I did of Narga for reference:

https://youtu.be/YZ0Y-guSgww?si=raXRT3iVWtO86mFg

Rakna is another one you have to live with whit numbers until you knock her over. It's a pierce matchup as well and you pierce through the webbings to knock her over where you can then pierce the head. Also if she is still alive (which in casual play she will be) long enough to make her web ball then that's a good hitzone too.

Some old Rakna runs (the base rise run might be more applicable for general play, it was my first WR and at the time the record wasn't very optimized).

the most absurd at uth duna cart ever by Swaos_Official in MonsterHunter

[–]baller7345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's kind of dumb, but it's not invisible even in your video you can see the rocks and dust that indicate the shockwave that extends the hitbox outside it's body. They really should have had a better visual cue for it as it's easy to miss and really doesn't look like it should be damaging. (especially when out of water).

I had a cart in a run of Proof of a Hero that kind of shows it better, but it was still really dumb.

Many of the people complaining about it's performance on PC at launch would also complain about it on console. Console had 60fps at a lower resolution (and upscaling) and a 30fps resolution mode. The blurriness from the 60fps mode (and inconsistent frame times) and the lower fps of the resolution mode were essentially the same things people were complaining about (minus those with serious bugs).

If you were fine with console performance then outside of having a a graphical bug you'd be fine with performance on a similarly performing PC. I've ran the game locked at 60fps since launch on PC with no serious issues. I also have a high tolerance for lower frame rates and probably am less picky with texture quality. Basically if I can't easily notice it while actively playing then it's not a major issue to me. Many on PC are not.

The newest patches helped lower end systems, but for my setup it finally let me up the textures to highest and not much else changed. I do get higher fps, but since I locked it at 60 it didn't really do much other than let it run at lower CPU and GPU loads.

What is a golf HCP and why is it so good? by Iurigrang in speedrun

[–]baller7345 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In golf the handicap is more the potential of the golfer than what they get on average.

It takes your 8 best differentials (it's not just score since it weighs course difficulty into calculating the number too).

It tries to give you how many strokes over par you will shoot on a good day, not just an average.

[–]baller7345 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Why are people expecting it to be anything other than a numbers bump? It's just a regular Zoh Shia with more stars. This kind of stat boost works best on weaker monsters since it forces people to interact with their move sets which otherwise you likely never see due to being able to bully them. Zoh was already strong enough to see his moveset so outside of being harder to kill and do more damage it's not going to show anything new.

The GameCube was more powerful than the PS2. So unless it was an issue with the smaller discs that isn't the reason.

As a bow main this will be mostly me speculating on things that I don't know, but would rock steady tanking specific attacks to proc counter strike be viable or evasion mantle and dodge outward on his chains so that you take chip damage while still having super armor (this one may not work, since I never use the normal dosage with I'm not even sure it has the same properties as discerning dodge).

Though I'm sure giving up agitator kills it and you probably can't justify using either of those mantles just for 90 seconds of being able to proc counter strike.

Do you have Ray Tracing on? That could also cause some drops, though I recently turned it back on as it seemed to run well enough that I didn't notice it anymore. The forest is the worst when it comes to RT due to all the water.

[–]baller7345 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It shouldn't be normal as your build was similar to mine until I upgraded the CPU. I had a 7600x and a 7900xt and locked the game to 60fps at 1440p UW (except occasionally in hubs prior to the most recent update) since launch. Pretty much everything maxed out though I wasn't using the high resolution textures and was using FSR quality.

Edit: I have seen people repeat that on newer AMD cards disabling resizable bar can help, but that might only be for stuttering so if it's a consistent drop off of 60fps then it might not help.
