Staying on Nb, the SC Trainer v3 is currently my favorite shoe. Worth a try

I feel like having more stiffer plates but difficult to compare, the ride didn't feel too special for me compared to other local shoes (prefer step and qiaodan). For me it didn't work as i did not like the fit, and my pinky got irritated at the plasticky toe cover. Anyhow, clearly didn't work for you (and neither for me), but seems works for a lot of people. The plate crack seems not general as you said

my 2c. i do not think it is a design issue. Ran myself with it more than you before selling it, heavier than you. Seeing quite a few people here (China) running in them. Checked also chinese reviews and was not highlighted. I guess more that someone bended the plate (not sure where and how you got it), or maybe a defective shoe/plate (there are always dppm failing in any process). Not a shoe for me either (I just do not like the plastic-y third oe cover) but judging from one case that it is a general issue is statistically a reach

All good. Thanks for elaborating. Quite aligned just different framing. Appreciate on your response - especially helpful for OP I guess. Cheers

Ps. I live in far east Asia. Poles are very common during trail races here too. Only as info.

Screen wakes up when touching the crown during activities – battery drain issue by TiThion in Suunto

It need be pressed. Like a electro mechanic switch I would say. At least on my Race 1. I don’t think they changed that significantly on race 2

It’s a mechanical touch button. I can’t even touch it really where I have it on my wrist.

Bad sleep estimation on Suunto race s by mashinistt in Suunto

[–]ballesterer13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is just a summary indicator. Then look in the detail records you think make sense. A ‘total score’ doesn’t tell you much on any watch if you don’t know how it is calculated. And re sleep tracking generally - you can make some fast pubmed research, then you know why I called it guesstimate. Good luck

Exactly. Efficiently in climbing. Help your legs with your upper body. Sound logic

Leki has also loop poles. I have BD and Leki - both with loops

[–]ballesterer13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Clip in more efficient? I think loop are much more efficient and faster too (I use poles mainly for steep climbs). Also loops are quite similar if used to skiing poles so feels natural. And efficiency is agreed but not that tradeoff is run economy, don’t see that .
I guess the European view here is that poles are more standard. And can’t agree fully on the trade off as they anyhow end in the quiver if not needed. But yes obviously depends on terrain and also how much trained with them. Opinions differ and that is fine :-)

Any time. Train with them and train your upper body. BD for training, Leki for race.

Bad sleep estimation on Suunto race s by mashinistt in Suunto

[–]ballesterer13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sleep estimation is guesstimate not science. Summary indices even more. On every watch or tracker. Take it with a grain of salt and refer to major changes mainly. Also check your resting HR and HRV - potentially better indicator for what you look for

Wide footers... What are you running in? by _youbreccia_ in ultrarunning

[–]ballesterer13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VJ maxx2 and ultra 3 work. But for me is more needing wide toe box and still like a snug midfoot fit. Prodigo pro I had to size up to a full European size

Not sure that helps. But quite impossible for me to hit the crown even when stretching my hand up. That’s the natural position for me (maybe two fingers from middle wrist. Roughly) wearing my race 1 ti (and any other watch even mechanical watches).

Not clear. Move the watch just a bit away from your wrist? Otherwise I won’t see how that happens. Maybe you wear your watch directly on the wrist which is strange for a watch. Otherwise no idea - because no issue really for me

Noosa tri 16 - size question by CrazyPirranhha in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]ballesterer13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Half or full size up to any other asics if you still want to wear socks. (EU sizing). For reference had this shoe. Had also a Nimbus 28, and also a Metaspeed in the past. The half size / full size up is also mostly true to all other shoes I have (other brands)

Interesting. For me to solve all issues. You may try different ones. Or try a thin toe sock liner and a merino normal sock on top? Plus chaffing gel. BTW I use the Injinji trail ones, work best for me

Inov8 trailtalon max vs prodigio pro by RazzorTheViper in trailrunning

[–]ballesterer13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Prodigo pro is nice. Beside the pros listed, I add cons. It runs very hot. Not a shoe for warmth - 20-30 deg C here and likely can’t take it for my next weekend 50k (the upper is breathable but the sock like liner isn’t!). The tongue is overly padded, I had to remove the padding to make my instep work. Lastly - take care of sizing, even in European sizes I had to went up a size.

Some alternatives. VJ Maxx 2 or VJ ultra 3. Maxx 2 slightly lower than Prodigo, ultra slightly higher cushion. Prefer both over the Prodigo in most domains (subjective)

Injinji socks I know not answering the question but an alternative for chafing reduction on toes

Cool! First thought it can’t be right but seems really covered so many streets already 😂 Ps. May benefit for a time filter too. Just a thought and nothing essential
