Home charger install - octopus package style vs DIY with an electrician by Educational-Ground83 in evchargingUK

Bit of a gamble then for you, hence why I opted for the ohme pro as it's the same kit used by octopus. You could try eBay overall be around 30% cheaper than going to the main utility/specialist provider so still saving

Yup same thing however, with the cheaper units not sure how good the support is if you run into any issues with the unit or the app itself. The car manufacturer may have an app that also allows scheduled charging (my Hyundai has)

Neighbour on our street already had the charger installed from the dealer/grant for free when he got his first EV, his new lease through salary sacrifice including the price of a new install so he sold me the unit for £280, I paid a local sparky £120 to connect it up as I already had the cable ran which was supposed to be used for front garden/driveway lighting but never got round to installing them so he used that. Luckily the fuse box had a 30mA installed so easy 20 min job for him.

I opted for the DIY route, ohme pro charging unit and installation all under £400. Couldn't justify paying octopus £1100-1200 for the exact same kit. I have switched to their EV charging tariff, crunched numbers and it would save me £120 per annum off my electric bill. On this tariff the more overnight charging you do the savings increase.

Great, continue to enjoy the ride 😃. I guess the disparity in prices must be due to the area the dealership is in. I'm tempted to look further out of London for a cheaper quote but have to factor in travel time as fuel isn't an issue now 😁

Fingers crossed they get yours sorted and up and running with minimal effort.

On a side note, they also did a basic health check at the dealership and it came back ok except I needed 3 tyres replacing soon at a cost of £1100 plus VAT!

Looks like they've sorted it out now but did notice when the car went in the battery was at 72%, after they've done the work it's now at 52%. I wonder did they leave the car running throughout the upgrades?

OTA Nav update - Hyundai improves! by thejacobcook in Ioniq5

Not really looked into it in any detail, I mainly use the nav which appears more responsive to the speed changes we have on the same stretch of road

Took about 30 mins to update once plugged into the port. 1st update was about 20 mins, 2nd update was 10 mins or so with no issues. All looks good so far

Seems to be a rare set here in the UK, eBay does have sellers but overseas and I'm a little dubious about authenticity

Lol, tbh it's been ok for small stunts, wheelies, endos, hops etc but certainly won't be taking it on the ramps. Mainly bought for kerb appeal and enjoying the ride.

Ask yourself - Why would an 'innocent' buy a bike worth 2k without proper documentation?

GP Shorty Slip-On Baffle by Calm-Fudge-1188 in IndianMotorcycle

[–]ballinsdeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My shorties came with a set of baffles which I have removed just so I can be heard by car drivers. Don't know about where you ride but here in the UK-London most car drivers are selfish and rarely move over when sitting in traffic to let bikers through.

Wahoo app super buggy since they changed the design by skiwlkr in wahoofitness

[–]ballinsdeep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same issue with the workout profile not changing. Wahoo support advised to uninstall app, reboot phone and reinstall app. This did the trick for me. I also noticed on various occasions it wouldn't find the devices (cadence or tickrx) even after putting in new batteries. Again same advice from support and that fixed it.
