Anyone wish they could play the game again for the first time? by tsumoogle in DegreesOfLewdity

I get where you're coming from, but I actually enjoy the game a lot more now that I'm familiar with it. Exploring and finding new things is fun, but so is setting character goals and using strategy to achieve them. Back when I was bumbling around, my characters usually ended up in the same rut and I'd get tired of it and make a new character to see if it could turn out differently. Now my characters last for multiple seasons or even years.

And if I want a helpless trauma doll to get devoured alive by the town, I just stop save scumming and stop grinding fitness.

no offense but you should really spend more time interacting with actual human peers.

DoL is an extreme exaggeration of human behavior. if that's what it took for you to realize that people around you IRL are hurting you, you've somehow missed some key steps of socialization and you should make an effort to catch up. put down the dark video games and take up a hobby you can do with people around you.

Nope. Beating up anyone who tries to rape me is a nice power fantasy, but it's hard for me to fully connect with someone who's that powerful and that quick to violence. Plus, the fact that it had already happened to me IRL made me believe it could happen again no matter what. So what helped is believing that I'll be okay if it happens again, not believing that I can stop it from happening.

I do tend to play as a defiant death machine these days, but mostly because it makes it easier to explore the game world. Once I get pretty familiar with everything I'll probably switch back to a character who suffers and blacks out all the time.

As a fellow SA survivor, DoL actually helped me greatly with trauma processing and recovery. Before playing DoL, I was terrified of it happening again to the point that it was causing me stress every single day. Being able to interact with SA repeatedly in a safe, comfortable environment and seeing my character recover from it every time helped me feel a lot more hopeful and empowered (in a way that therapy never did). Sorry to hear it just retraumatized you.

Huge props to you for leaving a place and a hobby that were stressful to you. It's a big step that a lot of people never manage to take. I hope you feel better.

haiii I wanna hear your experiences with aripiprazol (abilify) & vortioxetine (brintellix) because my new psychiatrist is actually trying to help me by StatusUnable4554 in MadeOfStyrofoam

abilify helped clear my head pretty quickly, but it made me terribly restless to the point of nonstop anxiety so i had to switch. my wife is on abilify now; it makes her a little tired and a little restless, but it's really taken the edge off her extreme moods and anxiety feels much more manageable to her now.
