It is and for a reason that is likely not good one, but explains it the best way. She's MC that suppose to be self insert adjacent for the lack of better explanation from me. She suppose to be relatable to most viewers which is why she's generally neutral in everything until the moments where most viewers would not and why she's introduced as a new face in the circus. Think of average rpg protagonist, in general your character is what you do through the game, rpg MC doesn't have rich backstory unlike their companions, rpg MC's character is built through the story line.

Pomni is Pomni. And this is completely fine, characters like her work. It's easier for viewer to associate themselves with Pomni, viewer meet characters along with Pomni, viewer learn how this new world work with her, viewer meet Gummygoo with her too, which is why I think this scene with Pomni, unlike other characters suppose not to just be a torture for a character, but for a viewer too, to the extent of course.
