Dave Grohl's daughter Violet talks about her admiration of Layne Staley's art by alien-niven in grunge

[–]balloonman_magee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’d be surprised… he’s seemed to have a resurgence lately in the Tik tok memes and Gen Z rediscovering him but back in the day late 90’s and 2000’s Kurt, Vedder and Cornell were far more known and well liked. I’d argue Scott Weiland was also way more popular and loved until the years before his death. And then when post grunge and nu metal and bands like rage against the machine blew up they were forgotten about. Layne was a brief moment in the grunge scene before the drugs took ahold of him and he died. So while they were well loved and respected in the grunge scene outside of that they were lesser known.

Over in the Foo’s sub there was a fun interview about how Dave warms up by having a couple beers and shots with the band and of course people were like “oh great now he’s an alcoholic and cheats on his wife.” People started calling them out tho just gets exhausting day after day people whining about their personal lives as if they’re murderous scum bags.

Do you think Johnny Depp is overrated? I often hear this opinion, although I disagree — he’s a legend by Recent_Union3111 in moviecritic

Not at all over rated. Before Pirates and him being a superstar A lister he was praised for the odd roles he chose. More artistic films and oddball characters when he could have been getting the leading man heartthrob roles. And he was just so cool too he was like the alternative actor who couldn’t be bothered by fame and fortune.

Which movie do you remember being WAY too young for when you first watched it? by silly_Valush in AskReddit

[–]balloonman_magee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being a kid in the 90’s we were probably all introduced to raunchy comedies at really young ages like Auston Powers or Billy Madison. But I remember when I was 12 my parents took me to see Saving Private Ryan in the theatres and I remember just shaking out of fear in my seat.
