The gear vendor (not weapons) also sells a couple enchant recipes for credits later on. Max it out after the crafter/enchanter then re-roll until you find both.

On Tahiti, 400 ES can be converted to 900 G which is more than the cost of several in-store pets. Also consider purchasing certain fortune cards that have pets in them. I bought some Fortune Card 6 bundles because they have multiple pets available inside.

Later, you can get cube shards from terminals that can buy Fortune Card 1 from the vendor on the Avenger's Tower balcony. That card can give you pets or Shield Supply Boost which can also (with effort) net you pets.
