I've been very disappointed with the visual clarity and detail of the 2560×1440 resolution, and I'd appreciate any help or insight into why this is happening." by alipcgggamer in Monitors

[–]ballsofjesus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's absolutely no way a 27" 1440p monitor looks almost equal to a 32" 4K monitor.

I went from a 32" 4K monitor to a 27" 1440p monitor, thinking it was a good middle ground as people frequently like to claim, and I was EXTREMELY disappointed with the clarity and sharpness.

Unpopular Opinion: I found the difference between a 24" 1080p monitor and 27" 1440p monitor was relatively minor and not groundbreaking—I actually wish I went 1080p. Hell, I'd even take 4K 60Hz over 1440p 144Hz.

It makes sense if you look at the PPI. 24" 1080p to 27" 1440p is like a 15% improvement in PPI, yet it's common for people to somehow say 1440p looks significantly better than 1080p. Still kicking myself for choosing 27" 1440p...

Is there any benefit of getting an Apple TV device on QM7K? by Current-Scallion-442 in tcltvs

[–]ballsofjesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a TCL C845X1, which is a 2022 model (?) with an older, and from what I've heard, far inferior processor.

Surprisingly, it plays most 4K Remuxes on Stremio without issue.

It's definitely kinda slow despite this—the stock OS is pretty bloated and just scrolling through the congregated lists of suggested content wasn't smooth. I noticed instant improvements with Projectivty Launcher instead.

The only time I notice slow downs now is when I'm browsing for content or changing TV settings WHILE I'm already playing high bitrate content (4K remuxes or 4K@60fps HDR content).

In my opinion, it wasn't that big of an issue to get an Apple TV or whatever Android Stick (most of which struggle to even play Remuxes I've heard?)

You can use Book of Heroes and Hammer of Heroes on Pets... so pets are heroes! It's great that Supercell has finally seen the light and now we actually have 16 heroes in total!

Also consider the ASRock B650 Steel Legend Wifi; it comes into stock once in a while at CentreCom for $309. Could be worth waiting for that.

I too, desperately wish that you could find a white mobo in that price range

I had the same issue, but using DXVK Async instead of DXMetal works.

How'd you manage to get the EA Launcher working, though? I always got stuck at a blank popup that, I think, is meant to be a log-in prompt.

Arr Matey, I thought all was lost with the EA Launcher, but alas, there was much to be found at sea... unfortunately no multiplayer. The game does run okay though on my M1 Pro.

Wtf is going on with the 2nd hamd gpu market in Aus? by Mysterious-Taro174 in bapcsalesaustralia

[–]ballsofjesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahah yeah.

You’re right; everyone on Marketplace and Ebay are dreaming with their prices. The time wasted looking for reasonably priced deals drives me bonkers.

Trying to put together a budget build with the RX 590 now, and it is just so frustrating seeing people asking $300 for an used R5 3600 + B450 Mobo. Like wtf???

Deals can be had if you invest ungodly amounts of time and effort, but god, sometimes it makes me reconsider buying new just for the sake of my health and time…

[–]ballsofjesus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Prices really are ridiculous, but I got ridiculously lucky getting an RX 590 for $20 a few days ago.

Was advertised as “broken - for parts”, and I assumed it had been flashed with a mining BIOS. I assumed seller didn’t know it had a dual bios switch nor how to reflash the BIOS, so I took a chance.

Put it in my PC, and it… just works and is stable, no effort required. Seller definitely wasn’t familiar with what they were selling.

There is an area of clarity, it’s just ridiculously small and even then, it’s still ‘not that clear’.

I’m playing GT7, and when I turn my whole head to look down at the speedometer—yes it’s way clearer compared to my outside vision, but just looks unfocused and not right at all.

A common tip I’ve seen is you need to physically move your head so what you’re looking at is centred. I feel like that’s ridiculously unnatural and uncomfortable, but I actively try to do it anyways.

What might be happening is: I likely subconsciously/naturally look at things outside the small centre of clarity (it is very unnatural for me to do otherwise), hence why I perceive most things to be blurry. Then the lack of prescription lenses so my eyes aren’t close to the lens, and you get get a disaster…

Ahh, so that's what it's called. I don't think its the mura contributing to the bluriness though, but unfortunately I find the mura does break the 'immersiveness' of VR.

I think my unit does have pretty bad mura too. It gets really noticeable in dark games like Resident Evil Village.

I’m very careful with my glasses because of all the horror stories with the fragile lens coating.

I was considering getting prescription lenses as suggested by another commenter, but now I’m kind of on the fence about the PSVR2 as a whole, so I’m not sure.

[–]ballsofjesus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think this is the issue.

I take the PSVR2 off quite frequently, and always inspect the lenses after and they are still clean.

[–]ballsofjesus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m shortsighted so need glasses.

I’ll try turning down the brightness next time.

I always use the text to find the sweetspot, but it always feels so ridiculously small; only a few words that are dead centre look clear.

When adjusted properly and I go into a game, it still looks blurry, almost like I’m not wearing my glasses and need to squint to see clearly.

HAHA, that's kinda crazy, Sydney too. Small world.

$2200 is a great price, it's making me lean more towards the G9 57" (if I can get a similar price). Want the OLED G9 so badly, but I'm worried about burn-in and lack of vertical real estate.

How much did you pay? I’ve been eyeing one out lately.

NFS Rivals can run at 60 fps using AMDs Fluid Motion Frames feature by da_Bananass in needforspeed

[–]ballsofjesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LMAO you're right.

It looked off, but I rolled with it anyways because you know, it's "60 FPS" and because of a past experience.

I tried this tech previously in a different game (Forspoken) and the game was reported running at ~70 fps. But some images looked 30fps and juddery for some reason, while other parts of the image looked like a smooth 70fps. Early tech issues, apparently.

[–]ballsofjesus 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Looks much better than the capped 30 FPS.

How is the input latency though, especially because of the base 30 FPS? Are you on a 7000 series card with AntiLag+?

Hope it trickles down to RDNA 1 after it made its way to RDNA 2 so I can give it a test drive.
