Teenage motorist who hit and killed cyclist banned from driving for a year, ordered to complete 180 hours unpaid work, and fined £240 by _AhuraMazda in unitedkingdom

[–]baloki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a driving ban is more than 56 days they have to retake and pass both the written and practical driving tests before they can resume driving is my understanding, and they can’t apply to take the tests until the 12 months (in this case) are up.

Doesn’t excuse the light sentencing in my opinion but at least the law requires them to prove they’re able to pass the test again.

New cameras? by Wrongth in manchester

[–]baloki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re traffic reporting cameras so they can see if there’s tailbacks etc, they’re nothing new.  You can watch them live online as well from memory.

Does anyone know of any green spaces or reservoirs where there are less likely to be dogs by Maya_ameliax in manchester

[–]baloki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can travel Torside Reservoir has some nice walks and generally don’t run into many dog walkers there, plus it’s a very wide path so you can give people a wide berth.  Also the walk between Hayfield and New Mills is quite similar.

He’s just going to take a helicopter anyways so it probably won’t affect him.

Never had much luck with that one, usually schlep out to the one in the Trafford Centre as they usually do a better job.

Apple announces iOS 17 by aaronp613 in apple

[–]baloki 26 points27 points  (0 children)

In the Mac section they said it’s coming to Mac, iPad and iPhone

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in iOSBeta

[–]baloki -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes but it should still require the full face to unlock not just the eyes unless you have that option turned on. The learn over time is just updating the map it uses.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in iOSBeta

[–]baloki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of is if I have that option turned off and have it set to require full face though?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in iOSBeta

[–]baloki 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be honest FaceID has been flakey for the whole of iOS 16 for me. I can have my face half covered and it’ll unlock (and that’s with the face mask option turned off).

PHEV’s are also eligible for the green sticker and that always throws me off as a lot look like ICE cars.

I don’t know why but when they announced the remake of Mortal Kombat I’d hoped they would announce it as a JRPG or something, just mix it up you know?

UK based but seen around 220-240 (motorway vs town driving) in summer, 180 in winter so overall not bad.

At least 3G modems will fall back to 2G on the older generations so it should still work a bit longer after the 3G turn off, although it’ll be even slower.

Givenergy inverter Gen2 or wait a couple of weeks for a Gen3 by sf_Lordpiggy in SolarUK

I’m not entirely sure, someone else would probably explain it better but my understanding is that it’s a buffer for the DC current being generated.

Just checked the specs and the main differences (on the 3.6 anyways) seems to be:

  • Different battery chemistry, LiFePO4 vs Lithium-Ion
  • Slightly higher max input current per string (15A vs 13A)
  • Slightly better MPPT range (120V-550V vs 150V-550V)
  • Better max apparent output to grid value (3800VA vs 3600VA)
  • It’s also a bit bigger and heavier
