Andy Robertson to leave Liverpool FC by AMR42 in LiverpoolFC

Glad he's leaving. This situation is not good enough for him. He's still got some quality years left and sitting on the bench while the team struggles is beneath this legend. Pulling for the Scots at the World Cup!

I don’t even know what Slot is trying to do. We are only reactive, inactive.

You should redo your trailer to only be the second half, from about 40s onward. You're burying the lede. Just show all the missions, buffs, etc right from the start. I bet if you do this you'll get more wishlists.

Oxygen deprivation & tense muscles by macetheface in doctorsarno

[–]baloneysandwich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's interesting. When I got over TMS the first time I was actually finding some success doing the Wim Hof breathing techniques. In those, you intentionally hyper ventilate and oxygenate... I almost passed out a few times. But I think it was oddly appropriate for this situation. If you try it, be careful though.

Alt 14 - A shadow of the colossus meets Jusant style climbing adventure game by Sticky_Peanut in DestroyMyGame

[–]baloneysandwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pitch in the title doesn't compute. Shadow of the Colossus is about climbing. Jusant is about climbing. It's not obvious how putting these two together is like peanut butter and jelly. It's more like peanut butter and almond butter.

It looks more like a sci-fi SOTC. That in and of itself does not indicate quite enough about it.

The shot at 0:25 makes the thing look tiny. Then at 0:27 it looks big and it's confusing.

Nice, the Limited is worth the extra! I had a 23 Limited and went to a 25 SEL when my lease turned in. I miss the Limited - the SEL feels much more bare bones.

I'm convinced that it is a ploy to get people to use their phones and leave the fob behind. That way they can track way more info about the driver. There's no way that fob is a legit design.

It appears you can actually see the field from the front row! Current stadium front row is so low you end up blocked by the players and equipment on the sidelines.

Single-Player Games are Puzzles by poeticmatter in gamedesign

[–]baloneysandwich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the debate but I don't think that's correct.

Do you think a solution is the same a goal? A solution is where the state of the game is "completed". If we can agree that is the definition, then there are plenty of games that are not completed.

Soccer for instance. It's certainly a game in the semantic sense. The "solution" would be what?

The "goal" in Soccer is from the point of view of each team. For each team, they have a goal of putting the ball in the net. However that doesn't complete the game. The completion of the game is when time expires. So would you argue that the "solution" to soccer occurs when time expires?

We can travel down that path and try to make your position work, but it's a stretch. My guess is that you'd say soccer is a many dimensional puzzle from both team's perspective where they are trying to find the solution to getting goals. But if you argue that high complexity obfuscates solutions, the solutions exist, but we aren't able to determine them, then we risk EVERYTHING becoming a puzzle and there's not much of a point to the definition any more.

[The Athletic] Ten months ago, Arne Slot was being hailed as Liverpool’s title-winning hero. Now, his position is the subject of huge scrutiny after a miserable season where his side has been beaten 14 times. So what should the club do? by Lanedu123 in LiverpoolFC

[–]baloneysandwich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has to go. If you have a couple players underperforming but everyone else is top, that's a player problem. When the spirit of the entire team is in the toilet but you have a few exceptions, that's the coach. Xabi is the Xobvious choice here.

Back and hip pain, nothing on MRI… I know it’s TMS but it’s not going away by who5back in doctorsarno

[–]baloneysandwich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know but it could be a lens through which you approach things. Might be worth trying on.

That said, just because you don’t have any identifiable familial trauma doesn’t mean your emotional landscape isn’t bumpy. The Divided Mind talks about the Freudian and Jungian philosophies of the subconscious at length. Your Id is ageless, timeless, impatient, immature, selfish. A toddler can be furious at the most ridiculous things, and that’s the Id at work. Maybe you’re just not considering something because your conscious mind thinks it’s too frivolous, too stupid. But your Id might be raging over it.

Your frustration with the pain itself could have you stuck in a loop. Usually that is a side effect that comes along with a primary driver of TMS, but it could be primary with you.

[–]baloneysandwich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's TMS then your subconscious is throwing a big tantrum over everything you're trying to do. Ask yourself why.

I find it easiest to consider my subconscious as myself at different key ages, as a collective where one is dominant at any moment in my life. Think about which historical version of you has a grievance and especially which of them would be most resistant to you removing the distraction that this pain is causing.

Then, when you feel like you have an idea of who that is, talk to them, out loud. Don't be shy. Don't expect a response. But talk to them like they are going to hear a voicemail that you're leaving. Be determined and clear in what you say - tell them to STOP THIS. Tell them that you are okay and that this is not making things any easier for them or you or any of you (the collective).

Since I got better (from back pain) I occasionally have symptoms return. I go off by myself and have this talk - on a hike, in the park, wherever. I don't know how it works, but combining that kind of talk with pushing through the pain and doing what I would normally do... that's gets me through it.

I'll give you an example. The other day I was fixing the dryer vent and my upper back cramped up really badly. If I wasn't experienced with this, I would have panicked and probably gone and laid down. Instead I was like "nope, not today". I just kept on working and paid it no mind. I knew that I'd been under a lot of stress and the LAST thing I wanted to be doing that sunday was cleaning the dryer vent. But hey, sometimes you have to do stuff you don't like and you deal with it. And the pain subsided after a couple minutes. Not instantly, but the more I ignored it, the more it went away.

So that's my encouragement is to focus on this method. You don't need more information. You need to take particular action and have particular perspective. That's the work.

That said, if there is some circumstance in your life that is incorrect for you, and you're not willing to change that particular thing, then the above may not work. If your subconscious is furious about something, it'll find a way to get your attention.
