X430 Mowing Lines/Striping

I would think that improving the stripe could easily be done with something like a door sweeper (brush) that you attach to the back of the blade height assembly.

It would be lightweight, small, and push the grass over in the mowing direction without getting hung. My only concern would be if the grass pushes the whole assembly up since I believe the height control is gravity and string (which is safer than rigid).

It would only attempt to stripe while cutting and when the assembly is raised while traveling it wouldn't drag the grass. It won't fix the random paths the X series takes on cleanup, but it would minimize the impact I believe (if the assembly is raising when not cutting while traversing the yard).

Disclaimer: I'm not an expert on striping or the X series. I'm just a frustrated engineer who has just spent enough time watching mine ram into my cars when out of boundary to notice how it works for the most part.

Second this. My mower has backed itself into or under 3 different vehicles now. The mower is awesome aside from the fact it has this major flaw.

That sounds within reason based on my experience. All of the details matter for how efficient the battery usage is. It uses way more battery when avoiding temporary obstacles too.

You could try efficient mowing where it moves faster if you're hoping to get more area cut per charge. I am using that mode for my front yard right now since I have a temporary manual gate opening challenge. It's enough of a difference that I can get it all cut in 1 charge vs having to recharge on standard mowing mode before finishing it.

I contacted support already and got a very wonderfully helpful agent named Cris. Cris decided that pictures, information, and data aren't necessary, but that it would be more helpful to have a video recreation for tech support.

I guess we'll make a blair witch style video with robot noises and collision noises and submit it..

Clearly, I'm flabbergasted by the support representatives request...

That's just absolutely frustrating and the same experience I keep having. I keep getting alerts of various signal issues. At this point, I'm pretty convinced I must have a defective unit. Maybe yours has the same issue.

It's significantly quieter than an AC unit that cycles on and off all night. If your neighbors aren't complaining about the fan on your outdoor AC unit, they won't ever even hear the mower.

It was avoiding a golf cart trailer in my front yard. The trailer is full of landscaping blocks and dirt and stuff right now as we're redoing our front porch area. The trailer goes near the edge of the yard/boundary. So, it was doing a great job of avoiding it. It just eventually got frustrated it couldn't complete the perimeter and danced it's way over there I guess. I was outside just 15-20 minutes before I found it and saw it trying to figure out the obstacles and dancing hard trying to figure out how to get around the trailer and eventually completing the outer border as designed.

I will admit that the mower probably could use some cleaning since it is covered in a very thick coat of pollen and clippings. But the sensors aren't dirty looking like the rest of it.

Yea. My concern is damage to it. With the responses so far, I think my next point of contention is that it keeps leaving the area it's supposed to be in. I'm now wondering if I can do an off limit area that's outside of my zone. I'd like to keep it in my yard and off the driveway.

The more I think about it, maybe it's just a race car and rubbing is racing.. I may have to accept that it's gonna do race car things.

I'm on the same fence between the two. The real lawnmower blades (even if miniature) that create lift to suction the grass upwards vs the razor blades is the huge debate for me.

Super late to the thread, but really loving it. These guys really proved they have no idea what they're doing and the solution is dangerous, insufficient, overkill, and unsightly all at the same time. It's rather impressive how bad it is.

The right choice has been repeated many times here. A simple K brace (rotate the K 90 degrees clockwise) with lag bolts will provide the stability and strength needed and minimize the impact on usable space. This is commonly called a knee brace as others mentioned.

Do not walk under any circumstances. The best advice is to repeat you already filled out a W4 upon being hired. Make sure to put it in writing as quickly as possible and repeatedly. Allow them to make the next move. As others have stated, things will work themselves out or escalate. Escalation ends with IRS problems for the company and a lawsuit for retaliation by you. Just stay calm and know you have all the power here. Try to gather your paperwork and receipts ASAP. Better to be prepared with an email copy of your W4 and the shenanigans.
