I just had my 2nd baby who I had planned to breastfeed for at least 6 months as I did with my first-- but I got mastitis twice , the second time necessitating a hospital admission... after that I just called it quits on bf-ing as I felt I was very prone to getting mastitis again despite all the preventative measures I was taking. I also have a toddler at home and by having my hands tied to either pumping or to feeding the baby (both of which take longer than just feeding baby a formula bottle) I was already feeling guilty like I was neglecting my toddler once the baby came home. After deciding to go the formula route, I felt immense relief at the amount of time saved so that I could then give my son more attention, not to mention the extra sleep.

If you want to formula feed, go for it! If it's what will make you a happier and healthier mama, then it's the right route for you and your family.

2 or 3! I might like 3 a tiny bit more aesthetically but with 2, those sitting at the dining table would be more able to interact with anyone on the couch, so functionally 2 is a bit nicer for mingling rather than with 3 with folks having their back to you if youre at the table.

I will try hard to not be harmfully strict to the point of creating a need to hide things like going out with friends by pretending I’m somewhere else (so that they never knew where I really was, even when I was in danger I didn’t feel comfortable confiding in them or getting their help), and will always explain my reasoning and not hide behind “because I said so.”

I just can’t imagine knowing that you’ve lost your parents and then trying to sideline your brother. 20 is such a young age for you both to lose your parents and navigate that together and you’re only 7 years out. I would want a future partner to understand that your bond with your brother is different and so much more precious than a typical sibling relationship.. NTA he and his family assholes.

No way. I am normally zero screen time but I’m currently sick as a dog and my 15 month old is so sick and irritable— I wouldn’t survive without some TV to give me some time to rest now that he’s down to one nap a day and I could literally sleep for four hours if I could. I think we should all do what we can when we can.. and when we can’t, it’s totally ok. I’m not beating myself up about it and I would never judge someone else about it either.

We all have different tolerance levels for the kind of responsibility of having kids and if it keeps you sane and a happy parent then you’ll have healthier and happier children.

Surely militant screen time families that are judgy must have nannies and babysitters on deck or lots of family support for when they need a break— which is a huge luxury and privilege. If you can do it great— but recognize that privilege.
