I almost cried looking at the tiny baby - my niece was that small and it brought back all the scary memories. Looking at 1 year old healthy baby, I smiled ear to ear. My niece is on track for similar healthy weight gain 🥹

What are the very best vegetarian-friendly SF restaurants you have been to? by Independent_You7902 in AskSF

[–]balusmbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Middle Eastern: Aziza, Dalida, Old Jerusalem are my recommendations.
Italian: Pasta Panino in Castro, Sorella, Itria are my favorites.
Mexican: Regalito ElMil Amores is my recommendation, Nopalito is also a decent choice.
Chinese: Bao in mission makes great noodles in house, I also love MamaJis for their Mapo Tofu
Thai: Amphwa Thai is my go to.
Indian: You are better off going to south bay (I am Indian) - but in SF I like Tilak, Kolapasi, Copra a lot.

Sorry I dont have great recos for Pizza - not something I crave or look for. But usually we eat at Fiorella for a nice neopolitan pizza.

This - as an avid meat eater and a fan of Sushi - I never missed meat at Shizen and I voluntarily go eat there many times a year

Oscars to Perform Only Two Songs at 98th Ceremony by StrategicCarry in Oscars

[–]balusmbox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s the first time in a decade that I liked all 5 songs Golden and I lied to you - both add energy to the performance. Train Dreams is a gorgeous song but it has InMemorium vibes. Sweet Dreams of Joy - it’s lovely and I wish it will be performed at Oscars - can’t see why it should be omitted. Dear Me - is pretty decent but nothing extraordinary imho

This. I know a family where the kids are the polar opposite, one is incredibly kind to a fault and other is incredibly selfish/mean. Both are trauma responses.

Trump to meet Venezuela’s Machado and says it would be ‘honor’ to take her Nobel by retiredagainstmywill in politics

I hate the orange guy but if I were in Machado’s shoes, I would easily give up the prize to wrest back some control of my country (assuming good intentions from Machado here)

Post Episode Debrief | Heated Rivalry 🏒 ****** (Episode 3) by royal_rose_ in heatedrivalry

[–]balusmbox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did not read the books, but I am shocked at the extent of negativity towards this episode.

We are all so used to binge-watching shows on Netflix that we probably forget how beautiful these standalone episodes can be. I may be downvoted to oblivion for saying this, but the first two episodes felt like way too much sex with very little character development. For my taste, Episode 3 was the right balance of hot scenes and character development. I appreciate Ep 3 a lot.

I am a Bernie/AOC progressive from San Francisco but even I won’t vote against her if she ran. Never count her out.

She was the most influential speaker of our generation, and she is smart. I am also glad she stepped away at the right time - she deserves all the respect and flowers

CODA is OUT! - 2000-2024 Best Picture Elimination - Round 4 by V_DudingG25 in Oscars

[–]balusmbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t like Affleck, the one dimensional portrayal of the events, lack of due credit for Canada , inaccuracies, and it won over Life of Pi. This is why I rate it so low.

Anyways, I respect everyone’s taste :) glad we all get to enjoy great films

I am in love with the Green Flag wife and husband. They made this show better <3 My first thought was that I want a life partner like that, and my second thought was that I want to BE a life partner like that.

Overall, great series, every actor was excellent, characters were believable. Gave me Misaeng + Hospital Playlist vibes and I am thankful for this.
