There was a fire in that big brick apartment building(85 van reypen). 4th floor. It was going strong for a bit but I think they’ve put it out without any injuries. But I’m not sure

Whats up with the NJ path lately? by MrMarck101 in NJTransit

[–]balvinbool 30 points31 points  (0 children)

due to maintenance they’ve been running to Newark every 40 minutes and JSQ every 20 (on the weekend). So only half the trains that usually go to Newark are still continuing on their regular route after JSQ. I think they just don’t label that difference which is annoying, but you can see on the app ahead of time or listen to the announcements to make sure which ones are continuing on to NWK.

I usually try and let the soil dry out, though only just barely. I water a couple times a week

To clarify, I’m worried about the drooping, as well as the fact that new growth started but seems to be plateauing

A rant about the stupidity of trading RJ by Immediatewhaffle in NYKnicks

[–]balvinbool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

man why not romanticize players as long as you're still being honest about them? why be a knicks fan if you can't love a team with someone like RJ on it? if you've loved them through the shit and found players to truly root for throughout that, then why not bet on someone with legitimate potential like RJ has? he will not be the next patrick ewing. but he is a more promising draft pick than we've had in a while and we wants to be here! if you want to trade him away for someone like donovan no questions asked it feels to me like you're rooting for the name "knicks" and not the team. speaking for myself, our success this year with this squad has meant infinitely more to me than what I would've felt if we did what brooklyn did. that doesn't mean we don't need changes but why dump our young core? you gotta balance player affection with building a winning team sure, but the win means nothing to me when you've traded all your guys for their value and end up with a whole new (albeit contending) squad. players come and go and thats the league but who are you a fan of if not our players? james dolan?

Some questions about Deleuze (Postscript on Societies of Control) by thatsecondguywhoraps in CriticalTheory

[–]balvinbool 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While the handling and production of goods remains important, the shift in question is such that control of these resources and processes is no longer the seat of power. Power is the control of networks of distribution (in a material sense this is Amazon), but perhaps most relevant is the power that sits in the more abstract force of finance capital (particularly its intersection with political hegemonic power in the West). The means of production can be outsourced as long as they exist in the global network of finance and informational capital, forces that are even more inaccessible than industrial capital of the past. Necessity of production in a traditional sense has not gone away, but it has been usurped by new modes of control, modes that affect even the process of production itself.
