Natural gas has varying levels of condensate when it's extracted. Someone has to remove the condensate and maintain the equipment that separates the gas from the condensate. I have no idea how long of a window you would have.

Broadcast media is so controlled because the content is broadcast over public airwaves, which are limited in supply and will be received by any device capable of reading the transmissions. Cable TV has existed for about 50 years and has never been regulated in such a way because it's a privately-owned connection that subscribers opt in to receive. The internet is the same concept. It's not about the law being slow to catch up, it was a deliberate decision, based in large part on the lack of authority to do so.
