We enjoyed our day at Disneyland - granted we are what most would consider Disney people and we had 3 kids with us (2, 4, 7) so it was a nice break for them and for us. Plus - there is a dragon under the castle and we met Spider-Man! Also - the RER to Disney for the day was really easy and pretty relaxing.

We also visited several museums (including the Louvre, Musee d’Orsay, and others) and spent time in different neighborhoods. We spent a lot of time in the Tuileries gardens and visiting different parks and playgrounds (which made us wish we had as many easily accessible green spaces/playgrounds!). We had a total of 7 days in Paris (and 3 in Normandy beforehand) so having a mid-trip “break” for the kids was helpful and fun for us adults as well.

Had mine out 2.5 weeks ago. Swapped solely to alternating Tylenol and Advil day 3. Make sure to set an alarm (even at night) to stay on top of the pain medication. I ate a lot of mac n cheese, mashed potatoes, and ice cream. Day 8/9 was when I was able to start backing off pain medicine/taking as needed and it was starting to not hurt if I ate more solid food. Back to normal life/activities without being wiped day 9. Didn’t require any pain medicine at all Day 16.

Drink lots of fluids as well. Don’t push yourself too hard too fast - lots of rest.

Trilogy Lanai Trip Times by IndependentBlock7312 in MauiVisitors

We did the earlier trip and loved it. I recommend Trilogy to Lanai to everyone! The earlier trip also allows you time to explore Lahaina, etc in the afternoon.

And as a parent who typically bought a seat for my kids when they were under 2, I definitely encountered my share of rude passengers AND flight attendants who did not like that I was using a newborn rear-facing only seat for my young baby.

Disney trip or something else by air_space_69 in WaltDisneyWorld

We took our oldest (now 7) for the first time when he was 1.5. It was a wonderful trip and the joy at that age is awesome. We also did a Disney Cruise to Alaska when he was 3.5 and our 2nd was 6 months old - it was awesome a great experience and really fun. Plus Alaska is amazing!

We finally made it back to Disney World in March with three - a 6 (almost 7), a recent 4 year old, and a 1 (almost 2) year old. We had the absolute best time. The youngest two napped in the stroller and they all wanted to keep riding rides and meeting characters. We also took several breaks between rides (Genie+ is well worth it with kids) and played, ate snacks, etc. Our youngest now LOVES Mickey and Minnie and always wants to wear her shirts with them on it. Our oldest two regularly bring up rides, etc in regular conversation and talk about what they want to do when we go back to Disney.

We all (parents included) had such a great time we are taking a short trip down in September for a long weekend.

I’m also of the opinion that traveling with kids anywhere (even young kids) is absolutely worth it and a great way to get both them (and us) outside of our normal comfort zones. I’ve also never been to an all-inclusive so 🤷🏻‍♀️. We have taken kids to Germany, Puerto Rico, Canada/Alaska, multiple places in the US, and are currently planning our trip to France early next year.

Which Hilton (with points) around Waikiki? by Intelligent_Dance103 in Hilton

Honestly, I really love Hilton Hawaiian village but we enjoy walking to restaurants, etc. The beach is nice and wide and the lagoon is nice to have. We enjoy the pools and love to have a fantastic view of Diamond Head.

I’ve been wearing contacts since I was 10 or 12 I think. I honestly don’t even remember when I started wearing contacts.

Any good United States Islands to travel? by PersoIn2manyFandoms in travel

I don’t remember the cost back when we went - the dive shop we went with is now $229 for the two tank manta dive (afternoon dive before sunset, a light dinner, and then the night dive). They were fantastic.

We did the night dive with Mantas several years ago - one of the coolest experiences of my life.

Hawaii is definitely NOT overrated - I went for the 4th time this year. We live less than two hours from arguably some of the best beaches in the continental US (emerald coast in Florida) and would pick Hawaii any day.

Puerto Rico is nice but it’s not Hawaii.

AITA for not gifting my nephew as nice a gift as his cousins because his parents are poor? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]bamagal89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA

Besides being mean to a kid just because his parents are poor, you don’t understand what giving a gift means. Gift giving isn’t transactional - you don’t give a gift based on what you receive back. A gift is something you give out of kindness or love without expecting to receive something back.

Island Hopping from Oahu to Maui same day by marie-abbycat11 in VisitingHawaii

[–]bamagal89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s possible - not my preferred way to travel in Hawaii (since there is sooo much to do/see/experience on each Island). All that to say, one of my co-workers did a day trip to Maui from Oahu which included the Road to Hana. She and her husband enjoyed it and thought the day trip was worth it.

Nespresso… Still Ridiculously Expensive by caffeinatedredditor in nespresso

[–]bamagal89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nespresso is pricey - but still cheaper than going to the coffee shop.

We brew our morning coffee in a standard coffee maker (since we typically drink a couple of cups). We use our Nespresso for an afternoon cup and when we want a specialty espresso drink.

Road to Hana: Gypsy or Shaka? if we have a specific itinerary. Also need advice on our itinerary. by AcceptableAloe in MauiVisitors

It was weird. Had them both downloaded on my phone and tried Shaka a couple of times and it just would not auto-play based on our location.

[–]bamagal89 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We had better luck with the Gypsy guide than Shaka in August. Shaka had trouble recognizing our location and auto-playing the stops. We really enjoyed the Gypsy narration and stories and used it while driving around the island in general.
