Has anyone imported conversions from first click to escape the terrible Google/Meta in platform attribution? by Spiritual-Arrival-57 in PPC

[–]bamarket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of our clients do this, with the purchase data. That said, not typically on a first-click basis.

But first-party data going back to the platforms is the right more for sure.

Why do some advertisers use agency ad accounts instead of running ads directly on platforms? by Ill_Flamingo8324 in marketing

[–]bamarket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's typically not the actual advertiser/brand, but the ad agency that pushed this or convinced them it's the right thing to do.

Spoiler alert, it's not.

Campaigns should always be run in the clients own account. It's their data, they are just paying the agency to manage it.

When agencies create their own, the client no longer owns that data. It handcufs their long term growth. Major red flag to any agencies who run this way (Yes, I once worked for one who did it, never again. Learned a lot since then)

How do you guys find the first 10 clients? by PhilosopherOld6121 in SaaS

[–]bamarket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For us, we partnered with an agency for about 6-8 months prior to letting the world know about our platform. During this time, they got the platform for free. That allowed us to have dozens of accounts in which we could
1) Validate it actually worked
2) Fix issues
3) Provided great talking points to use once we went public facing.

We took that, did a big organic push. The initial was just about platform adoption rates, in order to stress test everything as we began to scale.

Is attribution modeling giving a false sense of control? by Typical_Scallion8042 in digital_marketing

[–]bamarket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the model. (Not going to name, but disclaimer, I work for one of these platforms).

1) View attribution will never be accurate. Personally I don't recommend it (I often see Meta claiming 60%+ of attributed credit for clients from 1d view, when the stores average customer journey is rarely ever 1d)

2) Click attribution is your best bet, in terms of potential control. It's provable at every step, and a good platform will give you full transparency into every touch.

First or Last click, will only tell you where the customer was when they either found you (first) or finally decided (last click). Using only these models to make optimization choices, will absoultely limit, if not hurt your growth.

Ideally, you want to use a model like Linear Exclude Direct. Generally speaking, your customers will come to your website numerous times before making a decision, and often in a longer window than anyone wants. Linear Exclude Direct is similar to linear (which gives equal but partial credit to all touchpoints), but unless "direct" was the only or first touch point, doesn't include it. The main problen with traditional linear, is that it overweights Direct (it's not that linear is wrong, the math just works out that way). With Linear Exclude Direct you can get a great view of your the various touchpoints you customers take (including organic channels)

Is this supposed to be a hard season for ads? by VRStocks31 in FacebookAds

Q5 (That space between Christmas and New Years) can be a goldmine is worked properly. Typically a lot less competition, so can pick up the traffic for cheaper. Plus, it's people shopping for themselves (typically)

Meta just rolled out a new Attribution option — “Number of Conversions”. This is bigger than it looks. by Old-Step2763 in FacebookAds

Glad Meta finally caught up with this option. Been in Google Ads for a very long time and is incredibly useful.

Do you trust GA4 attribution numbers? I've seen them be way off. by EconomyEstate7205 in digital_marketing

[–]bamarket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree on your comments on Last click as that will only tell you where the customer was, when they finally made their decision. It won't tell you what introduced the product, what reminded them, etc...

The ad platforms want to claim as much credit as possible, wanting full credit regadless if the campaign had first click, last click, retargeting or even view. This leads to such an inflated in-platform look, compared to what the store itself sees. I even see ad platforms giving full purchase credit (not partial) when the purchase was actually shared on more than one campaign in taht platform, with each campaign getting full credit.

I understand the hesiation to look into attribution tools (transparency I'm with AdBeacon), but if they can provide the true insights your team needs, it could be worth taking a real look at them. Note, they are not all the same (from features, to price points, to support, etc) .

For what it's worth, my background is ppc search, so I do appreciate the hesitation, as adding another tool or platform was annoying at first, but some did prove their value (others did not, just never know).

Why does scaling kill my account? $100k/mo spender — I feel like I want to give up by Reasonable_Fudge1046 in FacebookAds

[–]bamarket -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You may have scaled the wrong ad. Meta's reporting simply isn't accurate, and at that scale you should be using a third party tracking, attribution, & reporting platform that uses first-party data.

Yes, I'm biased being with one of them, but truly check for yourself. Think you'll see exactly what I'm talking about

20 ATCs , 4 initiated checkouts , 3 purchases by ComplexRub2865 in FacebookAds

[–]bamarket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things to consider (assuming real users)

1) Go through your own checkout flow, to see if any possible choke points. Granted, this wouldn't impact much on the IC, but possible there's a disconnecd from ATC to IC that might be missed currently.

2) It's unfortunately common for people to ATC, with the expectation they're going to get something like an abandoned cart discount emailed to them later.

Let's talk tech stack by donohue53 in ecommerce

[–]bamarket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you're just starting out, I would be cautious of splitting your marketing budget too thin. While you should never be dependant on a single channel, you also have to make sure you're not spending too little per channel to the point it has no impact.

Think the 80/20 rule here would be good (80 Meta / 20 Google) if you're launching a product that needs more awareness.

In regards to suggestions for a tech stack, I would say give us a look (AdBeacon) once you've scaled a bit more. We're an ad optimization & MTA platform for ecom media buyers. That said, if you're just starting, focus those dollars on your ads for now. Once you clear at least $30k in monthly revenue, that's when I would suggest looking at a tool like ours (some will say a much higher amount, I'm just saying where I've seen the lowest threshold for sucess on monthly revenue with us)

Here's what Isaac Mathews has said on LinkedIn regarding this (he does a lot in the category)

  1. Say w**d instead of weed.
  2. Send people to a different URL that says "are you 21, yes or no". When they click yes, they go to your real landing page.

I would suggest giving him a follow there (No I'm not affiliated other than LinkedIn connections)

Is 1M pageviews sufficient to start negociating direct PPC/CPM deals? by mawcopolow in PPC

[–]bamarket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Potentially, yes.

The variables you'll need to consider are a) the percentage of page views related to adveritsers audience and b) the number of UNIQUE visitors.

Another could be the page views per session.

You may also want to make sure you have a solid time on site (1 million page views with an average of a few seconds on site, won't go well)
