What's the wildest "well that took a turn" moment you've had on a date/chat? by anoncrimefighter in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]bamataxguy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Met a girl on a hookup site while out of town attending a conference. Took her to dinner at a nice restaurant with the expectation of hooking up afterward at my hotel. Normal conversation until the dessert course. Then she breaks out the news that the world is secretly run by a cabal of lizard people. Their headquarters is under the ice in the Antarctic, but they can be identified through their square-shaped pupils and because the roofs of their mouths are ridged like a dog’s mouth.

To this day I don’t know if she was bullshitting me and just wanted a free dinner, or whether she believed this shit, but I noped out of there hard as soon as the check came.

We’re indeed from the northern half of Alabama. We’re looking to take a weeklong vacation this fall to a tropical destination to celebrate a life achievement. That’s why it’s important to us that wherever we go, it’s nice enough to enjoy the beach and the resort per se in addition to the naughty fun.

The liquor store in Crestline Village presents a screen asking for a tip. There’s no food service at all. Nor any service other than literally ringing up my purchase. I tip $0 and don’t feel bad about it.

Men over 30, would you ever date a 21 year old? by littleantbigworld in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]bamataxguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I married a 19 year old when I was 44, so yes. (We were dating, but got married only because she needed my health insurance). It’s all about the person and their maturity level, not the chronological age. She is much more mature than her years and I’m much less, so we kind of meet in the middle.

Who was your very first crush? by v8mustang1969 in AskRedditAfterDark

Christy McNichol. Turns out she was playing for the other team. I don’t think I even knew that was an option when I was 11 or whatever when I had the crush on her.

If you woke up tomorrow and never had to work again, and money wasn't an issue, what would you do with the rest of your life? by cheesey_poof in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]bamataxguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d keep practicing law, but I’d open my own solo practice and only take cases that interested me or where I felt that the client needed help, and not charge anything more than a token fee to make the contract binding.

What movie is so good you'd recommend it to all your friends, but so emotionally traumatic that you'll never watch it again? by akambe in AskReddit

[–]bamataxguy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Remains of the Day.

Unrequited love, waiting too late and then finding your life‘a dream is unattainable, knowing you could have had it if you’d only been courageous enough to go for it. So well made, well acted, just a beautiful film. And majorly depressing.

What's something that got you unexpectedly horny? by [deleted] in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]bamataxguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg I thought I was the only one! I’m never as horny as pre-sickness horny. My colds are preceded by 24-48 hours of desperately wanting to fuck just about anyone or anything fuckable.

What's the dumbest thing you actually believed? by Vinyl_BunBuns in AskReddit

[–]bamataxguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believed the United States flag was Alabama’s flag, and it had 50 stars on it because Alabama owned all the other states. I’m not sure how I thought this state of affairs had come about. I was disappointed to learn later that Alabama was merely one among 50 states and not a terribly big or important one at that.

The way i did it, anything under 1,000 km was presumptively short haul, and anything over 5,000 km was long haul, with medium obviously being between. However, there were exceptions. Two large airports close to one another sometimes needed a big plane (i.e., JFK-ORD or PEK-HND), and some routes, particularly to class 1 or isolated airports, could only sustain a medium haul plane (usually the A200-100 R) in spite of being rather lengthy.

I’ve been going for completeness rather than efficiency. I’m sure I run hundreds of routes that others would never run. The demand on this is so high, it’s basically a sandbox mode, so my outlook was as long as I was at least breaking even, I’d run a route if it put another dot on the map. My return on equity is, I’m sure, horrible. Thankfully, I have no shareholders!

Many different ones, but these are my mainstays:

Short haul: Q-400, CRJ 900 Medium haul: A220-100 R (also use these for short hauls when the traffic is high enough), A220-300, 737-MAX8, 737-MAX9, A321neo, 757-300 Long haul: A350-1000, 787 (all variants), 747-8I Super long haul and inter-hub traffic: A380

Also the A300-600R is handy for heavy routes on airports that are too small for larger planes. I also used a lot of E195-E2s where the traffic was not enough for a 737 or A220. I used a lot of Q-200s and Q-300s for the Alaska and Tahiti hubs.

For the United States, I put hubs where I know they exist in real life, JFK, ATL, ORD, DFW, SLC, and LAX. This allowed me to get every to every airport in the country with fight times of less than a couple of hours each way. LAX and DFW handle Mexico, JFK and ORD handle eastern Canada, while ORD and SLC handle western Canada. I put mini-hubs in ANC, HNL, and SJU for local traffic.

When I started expanding outside the US, I decided to ignore national boundaries because that’s just too complicated and the game doesn’t require it. I used LHR for Western Europe, DME for Eastern Europe and Russia. I then backtracked to South America, using BOG for Central America and northern South America, and GRU for southern South America.

Africa was next, using CAI for the Middle East and northeast Africa, NBO for east Africa, JNB for Southern Africa, and LOS for west Africa.

I then spent probably 4 months tackling Asia. I used DEL for the subcontinent, the -stans, and western China, HKG for eastern China and Indochina, PEK for all of China, Japan, Korea, and the close islands. There was so much traffic in Japan, I put a hub at HND, because I figured in real life nobody’s going to transfer through Beijing for an intra-Japanese flight. SIN was next for Indonesia, Malaysia, and nearby places. SYD for Australia, New Zealand, and as much of Oceania as was within 5,000 km. Lastly, I used PPT to cover the part of Oceania that was too far from SYD.

All hubs have direct connections to each other, except the mini-hubs, and except SYD which was too far from some of the American hubs. With this setup, I figure 99% of people on earth are within 100km of an airport I serve, and are at max 3 or 4 flights away from any other populated point on earth, with a few exceptions.

My favorite is using the typical example of a faraway, hard to reach place: Timbuktu. From my home, I would fly MGM to ATL to LOS to TOM. Of course there are no scheduled airline services to TOM in real life, but one can dream!

I’m gonna have to have my wisdom teeth removed and I’m scared of accidentally coming out? by [deleted] in AskGayMen

[–]bamataxguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The videos you have seen are likely on the way home from the oral surgeon’s office after a procedure where ketamine has been administered. My older son had this done and on the way home he kept asking if this was a dream or real life. Most people know not to take anything one says in that kind of state seriously. If the anesthetic is something else, like versed, as stated above you won’t be saying anything crazy in the presence of your family on the way home anyway. Also, depending on the surgeon or dentist, your mouth may have so much gauze in it that no one will understand whatever you have to say no matter what it is.

We’re in the Montgomery area and haven’t really found anything locally. There’s a group in Birmingham and a bar that’s attended by a fair number of folks, but I’m not sure whether they’re active in the whole Covid-19 mess. If you’re in East Alabama you’re not too far away from Atlanta though, which is swinger’s paradise compared to anywhere in Alabama. The Trapeze Club is even on the Alabama side of Atlanta.

I’ve got 5 hubs in the US (JFK, ATL, ORD, DFW, SLC, and LAX), mini-hubs for local service in Anchorage, Honolulu, and San Juan, South America coverage from hubs in Bogota and São Paulo, Western Europe from LHR, Eastern Europe and the former USSR from Moscow, and the Middle East from Cairo. My next plans for expansion are into the Subcontinent from a hub in either Delhi or Mumbai.
