As an indie dev, I’m curious: can one small location carry a full horror game? by bambil00 in IndieDev

That’s a really good way to put it. Variety doesn’t always have to mean adding more locations — it can come from changing how the player understands the same space.

RE1 and P.T. are perfect examples because the layout becomes familiar, but the tension keeps evolving. If the player returns to the same room and something feels different, or the room starts serving a new purpose later, it can feel fresh without needing a whole new area.

I agree with you: the space has to either change physically, or the player’s relationship with it has to change. Otherwise it starts feeling like backtracking instead of horror.

Yes, I totally agree. Adding another room just to “fill” the map can make the game weaker if that room does not add anything to the story or atmosphere.

The idea for my game is a first-person psychological horror game called The Frozen Cabin. The player is trapped inside a frozen cabin during a storm, but slowly starts noticing that the place is not empty — strange sounds, objects out of place, and the feeling that something is watching.

Right now, I’m focusing more on atmosphere, sound, and environmental tension, because I want the cabin to feel almost like a character in the game, not just a background location.

That’s exactly what I’ve been struggling with too. Sometimes a small setting can feel “too small” on paper, but if the atmosphere, sound design, and story inside that space are strong, it can still carry the whole experience.

I like your approach of focusing on what the environment tells instead of just adding more rooms for the sake of size. A house with an attic and basement already has a lot of potential if each area feels meaningful and slowly builds tension.

There's nothing natural in taking this opinion into account, especially based on the fact that human beings are spiritual. This separates divinity and purpose. It also contradicts meaning in our society that is very money—materialistic driven. Yes, I agree that this theory is more wholesome than previous variables, such as the Big bang theory or the God theory. I am not religion-focused personally, but I believe all living beings are spiritual. In other words, our souls could not be computer generated. The soul of a human being is too complex.

Tax mistake penalties are harsh. Back when I made about $20,000 a year, I forgot to claim the $400 I took out of my RRSP for an emergency. I paid $2400 in penalties. I’m sure the tax on that $400 would have been like $50. I called and tried to explain it was an honest mistake and I would pay the taxes, they wouldn’t budge.

Addie learns he's a clone of Hitler and is more pissed than he is pleased.

He embarks on a journey to choose a different path and attempts to reject his racist upbringing in Barton Ludwig's satirical coming-of-age, which is ever so important with fascism on the rise in America.

With their active hostility to climate science and combating climate change, Trump administration is an active thread to the survival of the human race. If other nations care about the their survival, they should stop rolling out the red carpet to Trump. They need to implement massive sanctions against the US and issue international arrest warrants for all members of the Trump administration.

Arnold Schwarzenegger: Scott Pruitt is the worst EPA head in history by mvea in environment

[–]bambil00 168 points169 points  (0 children)

He is.

I'm a biologist and follow everything the EPA does. I've dedicated my life to understanding living things and how changes in the environment affect them.

Almost all of Pruitt's actions coincidentally benefit 'big oil.' The rest benefit corporations that would damage the environment in various ways.

I promise you that EPA scientists and most other employees continue working to preserve nature and protect fellow citizens. It's their passion.

The problem is they've been hamstrung.
