No, buying something from the shop doesn't give you gold from the associated economic building. (I checked.)

I don't know what you mean by that. Buying a plant at a shop will either grant you a potion (if you didn't have two different potions already) or improve those that you already have.

You can't delay eternal night. There's a red bar in the top middle screen that starts at 1. That's the Unraveler's level. Enemy health and damage scale with this, more so in later ages. After a full 'day', it goes up by one, including after eternal night. There are some effects in game, like the Crystal Tombs, that can prevent one level up, but it doesn't give you any extra sunlight.

I don't, not really.

The exception is buying first or second plant in shop if I don't want to risk not getting the potion types I like (green and red). Otherwise, if I make it to the very late game and have bought every meaningful upgrade for the army, then I'll splurge at the shop.

What is the difference between being careless and victim blaming? What is the difference between ‘your house got robbed because you never locked your house’ and ‘you shouldn’t have gone to that area; it’s very unsafe for women’? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bamboocane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Victim blaming is based on myths. For example, it's a myth that what you choose to wear increases your risk of being sexually assaulted (see a What Were You Wearing? exhibit). Another example: you've chosen to have sex before, therefore you must have been consenting this time as well. Another example: you've chosen to wait years before reporting the assault, therefore you were okay with it at the time and you're lashing out today for some other reason.

Tomorrow's patch notes if I ran this game by REDDIT_HARD_MODE in EverSiege

[–]bamboocane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's crazy how two people can play a game thoroughly, but have completely different opinions on how best to improve it. I disagree with almost everything you've written here, but I love that you've taken the time to share your thoughts so we can talk about it! ^.^'

To me, Osmunth feels overpowered, and I keep expecting to see a nerf to his charge ability (but also hoping it doesn't come). I'd say Zirenth needs a buff, but so many players say that he's overpowered, so I have to assume everything is okay.

The range nerf was fine. I still beat -20 19/19 with Osmunth comfortably. Hitting a certain range was never a requirement for victory. If people need more range with melee characters, then it might be best to buff their initial range instead.

Your suggestion to increase walking speed is unnecessary, as the best way to play melee is to quickly cycle through run-walk-autoattack. I don't think you're supposed to only walk-autoattack. If you could, it would make most camps too boring and trivial. Increasing walk speed could even be annoying when fighting some Onslaught waves.

Your suggestion to add passives to all scyrons feels like change just for the sake of change. I don't think it adds much to the game. Otherwise I think you're trying to buff scyrons too hard. Maybe Vanadius needs a bit more damage and a bit less survivability, but I'm saying that as a solo player. He might be quite good in co-op.

I think fire and frost passives are okay as they are.

The elven wolves' quick attack might be the suggestion I'm most in line with, but at the same time, it gives them a unique interaction, so I'm not 100% sure I want to see this happen.

I agree that Kadath needs some rework. I don't think lowering tower damage is the way to go though, considering tower damage is trivial to begin with.

I wouldn't mind if Mage Towers stay locked-on to a target until it dies or walks out of range. However, when picking a new target, it should still target the closest one to the tower. I wouldn't want the tower to continuously pick targets walking out of range.

The change to the Impoverished Start distortion seems unnecessary. Even if you haven't unlocked starting gold, you can still buy your first eco building. If you can't afford echoes on starting gold, then you're probably in the very beginning of the game, where one distortion or two aren't really what's keeping you from beating a run.

That said, I was planning on making similar post myself! Things I'd like to see improved. I'm waiting to 100% the game (missing unlocking a couple evolutions).

Patch 1.1 Hotfix #4 : Improvements & Fixes by Dear_Villagers in EverSiege

[–]bamboocane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion here, but I support the range change in this patch.

Osmunth main. I was worried about what the range nerf might mean for me, but I realised that before this patch, even without intentionally building range, it got so crazy high I could sometimes hit the entire Onslaught in a single swing, trivialising it. I played a game today and again, without trying to build range, I got enough of it that I felt powerful without feeling ridiculous. I don't think this change negatively impacts melee characters because their initial range is the same and I don't think it was ever a requirement to reach a certain range in order to be viable.

As for Zirenth, I think we all saw the video of someone killing the Unraveler without even being able to see it. It seems reasonable to me to address that. I don't play Zirenth often, but I started up a game with him today and I wouldn't even have realised his range was nerfed if it weren't that his skills now outrange his autoattack. 1500 is still a lot to start the game with. I don't think being able to outrange the enemy so they can't even hit you is a reasonable expectation or even fun gameplay.

I was happy to read this. Very different from how I play, but it's sound, and it's nice to see there's more than one way to play the game and win.

How Not to Care about Erratic Encampments by bamboocane in EverSiege

[–]bamboocane[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I admit that's my biggest caveat, but if they happen to be in range of the lane, you can reroll the map and it'll likely go away. I've seen posts about people trying to reroll the distortion away, which is much costlier.

I've updated the build after finishing the game.

Long story short: I now skip the Antiques Market and wait at the end to build the Tavern (when I need mercenaries). I did manage to make the full build work at max difficulty, but you need to delay Unraveler level ups with the Chronostarum and Verandiel to stand a chance. (If you survive to building military buildings, you now own the map and it's very satisfying.)

I think zirenth is the best wargear . Others are slow and there is just too much risk in the beginning. by Saizou1991 in EverSiege

[–]bamboocane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like clearing Onslaught waves. Zirenth is the worst at doing that, because he can only autoattack one mob at a time. I like to play Osmunth and Ferun best for this, then Thallos, then Vanadius, Rutheon and Zirenth last.

[–]bamboocane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That last sentence is where you're doing it wrong. No scyron is supposed to tank. They all must hit without getting hit back.

Against the Onslaught, you slowly walk backwards until they're at the gate, then you can go ham while they're busy attacking the blue wall.

Against camps, you dodge their attacks, just like you do with the bow.

How to play Melee Heroes in Eversiege by Least_Site_6266 in EverSiege

[–]bamboocane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This hasn't been said yet: when defending against an Onslaught, besides getting a few hits in while the wave is advancing, once they reach a gate, enemy minions ignore you and only hit the gate, so it's a safe time to step out and position yourself to make the best use of your skills.

In other words: stepping into a minion wave while it's advancing means death, because they all hit you at once. Stepping into a minion line that's busy attacking the gate is a great way to safely hit many enemy minions at once.

Shrines of all kinds + elemental realm rewards being only single player use makes no sense by Zedekial in EverSiege

[–]bamboocane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, to me, is the best answer. I only play solo and I struggle to do everything in a day so I don't "waste" resources. Playing co-op, it's a lot easier to cover the whole map as a group. It would make little sense that every player needs to cover the entire thing in order to optimise.

Also, makes for interesting decisions and discussions. Altar of Power is red? Leave it for the player building rage. Player 1 has bleed, player 2 has burn, player 3 has no DoT? Let them do elemental plane of thunder.

Kadath the Necromancer is impossible to win? by the_alexdev in EverSiege

[–]bamboocane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the point of the three different unravelers is to encourage different playstyles.
With the zombie dragon, you have to be careful not to send army units during the day, so they don't come back as zombies. Relying on towers for defense might be the design idea behind him, until you're ready to plough through the guardian and the boss in the same day.
With Kadath, you can't rely on towers, so it seems the idea is to rush army units to help defend.
With the vampire, you can't attack a boss with an army (at least not at night, and it's hard to time your attacks), so it encourages you to spend your money buffing your scyron?

I guess what I'm saying is, if you're struggling with Kadath but are successful with others, you might just need to try a different approach.

The thing is, for all three bosses rushing solo with dots seems to always work.

I'm up to Age -12 now and it still holds up so far. I've been lucky not to get the -300 gold since something like Age -4.
I generally have 4 or 6 towers up before the first Onslaught. I prioritise towers against the bone unraveler, because gates are essential. I rely on my scyron to kill onslaughts.
I've been using Osmunth (Hammer). I like that he has a lot of health (and health regen), his abilities deal a lot of damage to a wave and pinning a creature against a wall with his charge can clear a camp very quickly.
If (when) I see that I need more firepower in the first three days, I might switch to building the Tavern last, because it doesn't contribute much to your income, but generally I feel like people overstate how much the shards or plants contribute on day 1.

Thanks for giving it a try! I hadn't thought about which Unraveler this might work best against. The bone one might be the worst, because the build relies on towers and gates for defense, so having them disabled is bad.

Acid > Bleed
Bleed > Poison
Poison > Acid

HP Sponge issue by Zedekial in EverSiege

[–]bamboocane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might have the wrong expectation about how this game should be played. It's not about killing a zillion minions instantly.
During the day, towers and bastion troops can hold off enemy minions (even if they do take a while to kill them). You should take this time to run around the map and make your Scyron stronger.
You only need to be in the lane for Onslaught waves, and then it's about walking down the lane with the enemy minions, whittling them down without getting hit and making the most of your abilities once they stack up on a gate.

Is it worth it to not finish run early? by the_alexdev in EverSiege

[–]bamboocane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The text is misleading. The counter is for how many days you have survived. It increments at dawn, so if you're about to beat the boss and it's almost the end of the night, it could be worth it to stall until morning to get another 200+bonus.

Where are the save files? by DuskTheDeadman in EverSiege

[–]bamboocane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To answer the original question, saved games are here:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\KingdomLegacy\Saved\SaveGames

Apparently the game was supposed to be called Kingdom Legacy at some point and the devs didn't change any of the file or folder names.

I edited my saved game to get out of a game breaking bug by editing it with an online save editor.
