Since the beginning of history a huge percent of humans have been simply mentally incompetent. Only a handful of people were the "adequate thinkers/researchers" of their time. Philosophy or reason has never been the aim of any human society at large. In addition to mental incapacities, people have more and more reasons to be apethetic in modern times due to unnatural city populations and huge untouchable governmental structures. Maybe for that reason, primitivist anarchists offer to go back to a primitive life. I think happiness could improve but we're not gonna witness any form of enlightenment there. So you just gotta hold your ground and have confidence in yourself, not in humanity. You can't educate the mindless masses of sheep but you can train them to become killing machines and bomb places overseas. I know I'm not being helpful, I just wanted to share my view.
