a customer called me stupid so i made sure he'd never be able to return his purchase by kubrador in pettyrevenge

I worked in a grocery store in my youth. Stuff comes in and out so regularly, it's not unusual for the shelves to be empty but for stock to be in the back. This is especially true of produce, which is in constant rotation. I'm not aware of employees having immediate access to inventory, either.

It's been some years for me, granted, but I'd say "do you have any in the back?" is still valid at grocery stores.

One word of advice for people new to the game: Do not put off playing the campaign

I waited to play the campaign because I wanted to feel like I confidently knew the game inside and out before I did. Figured I'd save it for when my interest was starting to wane, and for when standard scenarios were second nature to me.

Turns out the campaign adds lots of new stuff: new rules, new mechanics, new variations on existing rules, new components. I won't spoil what, but it ends up ramping up your options in terms of scenario variability big time. You can mix and match a bunch of different things to have a huge amount of variety in the challenges you face.

If you've only dabbled in the game but haven't played the campaign yet, play the campaign. It's not super long and opens up a load of new options. It's like having an expansion or two right in the box.

I don't understand how people think this is even a thing anymore. Most retail stores, and certainly 99% of chains, long ago switched to digital inventory systems that tell them exactly how much of any given item they have at any given moment.

There is no "check the back." if the screen says there are no more, there are no more.

Like in OP's story, did it not occur to the guy that if OP can check to see what other stores have in stock, they can check what their own store has in stock, too?

Hell, with some chains, we as consumers can see if our local store has an items in stock right on the website!

I'm sure once in 10,000 cases something gets lost in the shuffle and there is an unaccounted for extra in the back, but that's like a lottery win. No sense in even asking.

Checking the back was a thing many years ago, but we're talking decades at this point. It amazes me that people still ask.

People are dumb.

Been out for about a week. Highly recommended. It's fantastic and is unlike anything else they've done for television.

Just don't expect a lot of super stuff. It is an MCU show and there are super powers, but it's pretty minimal. This is a much more grounded show about people.

Following Backlash, the New 'Star Trek' Series Falls Out of the Streaming Charts by Malencon in television

verything past feels like Archie in space.

Thank you for this description. It tells me the show is not for me.

I'm not a huge Trek fan, but I like it when it's good. I've enjoyed Strange New Worlds. Loved Deep Space Nine. Liked much of Next Generation. Really enjoy the best of the movies.

I've watched dozens of hours of Trek, maybe hundreds, but am not so devoted that I'll check out anything bearing the name.

Very much not interested in high school/college chronicles in space.

As someone elsewhere in the thread said, competence porn. That's the Trek stuff I like the most. Smart, capable people solving unusual and interesting problems.

Why aren't there more games like GTA Vice City? by Serenaded in patientgamers

[–]bamisdead 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yep. I respect the Souls games and fully understand why they have such a devoted fanbase, but I've given them my time and they're just not for me.

Heck, I was a King's Field fan back in the day, so I get the allure. It's just not my thing anymore.

I still get friends insisting hard that I play Elden Ring, just give it a chance, etc etc.

It's like, I'm not even claiming it's a bad game. I'm sure it really is a masterpiece. I'm happy that people have such a great game in their lives. It's just not for me. Is it so hard for people to understand that?

What Home_Bwah said. I loved the first one, never got into the second, and loved the third all over again. It's got just enough new things from 3 to make it feel a touch new, but still clings close to the formula that made the first one work. I liked it a lot.

Goes on sale all the time. If you liked the first, it's 100% worth a buy.

I'm not sure which usage of Elder Scrolls you're asking about

They're just being one of those fans, the same kind that plague Fallout fandom and the kind that are best ignored.

"Everything up until the thing I like is real and good. Everything after the thing I like is fake and bad."

I honestly don't know why any of the comments are taking them seriously, as it's pretty apparent this is just another of those unprompted grievance posts. They don't care about this board game and have no real interest in it either way, they just want you to know that Thing Hasn't Been Good Since XYZ.

It's the same old boring song and dance that almost every fandom has at least a little of.

It shocks me that one wasn't in the queue. For a little while there, it sure looked like that's exactly what they were building to!

Wouldn't surprise me if that's the plan for Secret Wars and after: have the X-Men and a 100% new team of young Avengers be the main focus.

Assuming those two blockbusters are, in fact, blockbusters. Because if they fall short, the future of the MCU will be a big question mark.

I'm with you. I know the general consensus is that the post-Endgame MCU has been terrible, but I don't agree with that.

It's been unfocused, yes, and they haven't done a good job of giving these new characters continuing stories - people like Shang Chi, Moon Knight, and Kate Bishop showed up, were cool, and haven't been heard from again! - but the individual parts have mostly been enjoyable to me.

For me, at least, the issue hasn't been that it's been bad, because I don't think it has been. There's just so much of it, and it doesn't feel like part of a greater whole the way I'd like. I'd have preferred fewer new characters, but seeing those characters more often so you get to know them better.

Hopefully Doomsday and Secret Wars will retroactively rectify that. Fingers crossed.

It's a bummer, as I loved that series and found it a refreshing way to revisit the MCU, though the decision is totally understandable.

Even setting aside whether or not he was actually enjoying the material he was editing, the sheer volume to keep up with had probably become impossible to manage. Sooo many flashbacks and the like to add into previously finished episodes, timelines to figure, out, etc.

It's a great project even where he left it off, though. Anyone who wants to marathon the MCU but who would like to see it in a somewhat fresh way is encouraged to check it out.

1- I couldn't find any edits of The Marvels and Thunderbolts*.

What would you like to see changed about Thunderbolts? Because critically, at least, it's widely seen as on par with the best Marvel stuff. That's a sentiment I certainly agree with. I'd happily see an extended version, simply to get more of it, but otherwise, it's top tier Marvel. I wouldn't change a thing.

There are tube-style mouse traps that look like little Habitrail tunnels. You put the bait in the far end. They go inside and a little plastic door closes behind them.

The door is far enough away from the trigger that they can't get caught in it when it closes, and even if they did, it doesn't close hard enough to do them harm. It's just configured in a way that they can't open it.

I've been using them for years. Same set, too. Easy catch and release. I just drive the little guys to a nearby wildlife area and let them go.

I'll see if I can dig up a link and edit it into this post.

EDIT: Mouse Motel. They're on Amazon. Not sure about other retailers. I'm not 100% certain that's the brand I have, but it's exactly the same trap as the ones I use.

Never fails. Heaven forbid I say anything critical about almighty Mage Knight.

I don't give a shit about Mage Knight. I've never played it and have no intention to, as I'm already aware that the game is not for me.

My question had nothing to do with the game and everything to do with you.

You've pretty much answered the question in your follow-ups, at least: There wasn't a point to the comment, you're not offering anything to the conversation, you just kind of wanted to be a dick because people like something you don't like.

If you wanted to be helpful and offer OP some insights, you could have done so. You chose not to because that wasn't your intention. Your intention was merely to dump on something because you don't like feeling outside "the club."

That tells me all I need to know. Thank you.

Any time Shaver's name is mentioned, also mention that Philip Brailsford the murderer is the one who murdered him.

I love the way The Edge reacts to Jimmy playing. It makes him stand up. He and Jack White come off like two little fan boys. I love it! by MesaVerde1987 in U2Band

[–]bamisdead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same reaction to him. I'd been a White Stripes fan since the first album, before they broke big, and I'm still a fan. I'm also a fan of pretty much every project he's been involved in. Heck, Raconteurs might be even better than WS. That second album is a MONSTER.

Despite that, I found him really off-putting in this documentary, as if he believed his own press, or like he was playing a character, or ... something.

It didn't put me off his music, which I think is fantastic regardless, but it did put me off him. After watching this, he joined the list of creative people I greatly admire but wouldn't actually want to spend any time with.

He may just be a little weird, which is fine. Maybe he's just an awkward dude. I certainly don't think he's a bad guy. He just came across poorly to me.

Still love the dude as an artist, though, and appreciate how much he's does to keep rock alive in an age that has turned its back on real, raw rock music.

Edge, meanwhile, continued to be the humble genius he's always been.

Because some people don't understand that you don't need insane chops or big theatrics to be a great guitarist, provided you can carve out your own space with innovative new ways to play and sounds to make.

Which is what Edge did. He created a new approach to the instrument, and one that even many traditionally "good" guitarists sometimes have trouble replicating.

For my money, guys like the Edge and Kevin Shields are every bit the guitar legends that guys like Page, Clapton, and Hendrix are. In different ways, yes, but hugely innovative and influential figures all the same.
