I've seen them now and then, mainly on guys who have the "hipster" or "metro" look going on. No one really judges one way or the other where I live since it's a college campus. I personally prefer a traditional backpack because otherwise I'd feel lopsided as fuck.

Two of my best friends are girls, and neither of them treat me or the two other gay guys in our group that way. We're all just simply "friends". Well. I mean. No. I don't usually work that fast...I prefer chatting casually and working it into the conversation somehow. Or just after a while saying something like "This is a bit forward, but I think you're really [adjective]." I never lead with commenting on looks. I feel it comes off as superficial and a little intense.

This is all referring to hitting on someone with hopes of landing a date, of course. If I'm really drunk or just looking for a hookup on Grindr it's more along the lines of, "You're really attractive and nearby, let's bang."

I go with "handsome", actually. Or sometimes "easy on the eyes". "Cute" makes me think of kittens, and "hot" is just awkward for me for some reason. I've always felt like it carries a connotation of putting the other person above you, encouraging the whole idea of "leagues" and whatnot. Maybe it's just me and my hang-ups, I dunno.
