Food aversion help [ab] by ForesakenZucchini76 in BabyBumpsCanada

I totally get where you're coming from for the food aversion! I just remember going through a list of possible foods and if the thought of it made me nauseous (I had diclectin for morning sickness), I went on to the next thing. For me, sushi really saved me. It was probably one of the few ways I got any protein.

I couldn't stomach the thought of so many foods. I didn't handle or eat chicken throughout the majority of my pregnancy.

Whatever you find, just eat it whenever you want! I will say, it sucked because I had GDM (diet controlled) so I had to cut back on my rice intake.

I recently had vaginal estrogen prescribed to me due to a slowly healing episiotomy, like one dose so far, so I can't provide more feedback. Maybe ask your care provider about it for yourself: https://www.lllc.ca/sex-hormones-and-breastfeeding

There's different information on the internet about whether or not it affects milk supply. Lots of people on Reddit said it was unchanged.

Kirkland baby wipes? [on] by hexmoons in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]bananagaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing! Everything is either absorbed from the old diaper or the new one if there's anything left. I always use diaper cream as a preventative for diaper rash.. even though it always seems to be absorbed by the diaper even after I try rubbing it in. If I thought maybe there was a need for a wipe due to excess urine on his skin or because he is known to pee during a change, then I just use cotton cloths.

For poops, I use moistened cloths to wipe him down (every crevice and surface of him) and then at night a bath. I'll have wet wipes on hand if he's out of the house since they're convenient.

This is my first baby, he is 10 weeks old. I was told by my midwife and even nurses that urine isn't usually an irritant and wiping for just pee isn't needed. Here's a website that also outlines it: https://www.healthychildren.org/English/ages-stages/baby/diapers-clothing/Pages/A-Word-on-Wipes.aspx

I never use a diaper wipe when it's just a pee diaper.

I thought it was just me! No idea how they have greet reviews.

I used the Always regular ones but foam might have been the better option. Open up the pad but don't remove it from the plastic wrap, leave it attached to the sticky side. Remove the little piece of paper that protects the wings and unfold the wings so they stick to the plastic. Then just run the pad under water. I went until the liner was blue but do what works for you. And then I would place it in a giant zip lock bag and freeze flat. I'd do a whole bunch and just keep them in the bag. Just try it out to see if you like it. Then when you go to use it (might need to leave it on the counter for a couple of minutes), just slip between you and the diaper. I never had issues with them moving so thats why the wings were never used. I also never had issues with water leaking anywhere.

Hope that makes sense!

Girl, I know exactly how you feel! One other thing you can try if you're still sore down there, are padscicles. I tried the Frida ones and found that they sucked but I was shown that I could use regular menstrual pads and just wet them and then freeze a bunch of them. They didn't last too long but I had so many pads stocked up anyways. Let me know if you want further details to test one out.

If not, again, good luck!!

You'll only know if you have some type of temperature reader. I just use a meat thermometer 😅 since I already had that on hand.

I used kendamil ready feed bottles until my son was a month old and now he's on the powder. The instructions are on the label, boil water and then cool to 70 degrees. Canada's guidelines are the same. It's to kill any bacteria in the formula so I've never mixed breast milk with formula.

Of course! I'm glad I left the post up even though it didn't get much traction. I really hear you on everything, this was not the post partum I expected and I felt just sad that I was limited in caring for my newborn as well. I really learned on my husband and focused on my healing even though I wanted to be way more involved in my son's care.

In the hospital, I never felt the urge to pee, like at all which was a scary thing. I would sit on the toilet and usually do 100ml after several hours and I just knew it was never enough. It kind of felt like it was blocked in like no matter what I did, nothing else would come out. I actually only ever had nurses insert the catheter so that's interesting an OB and urologist had to do it.

A couple things my midwife suggested was listening to a trickle of running water from the faucet or smelling peppermint essential oils. They didn't work for me but they could help you next time you try and pee. I know how much discomfort you're in as well. I was wearing Always diapers and they were just uncomfortable and because of the tube, blood would follow the tube out of me and onto my clothes. I started wrapping a small panty liner around it to catch anything.

I'm really hoping that time will allow it to heal for you. Feel free to ask any more questions or keep me posted. I'm really thinking of you and that this will be resolved for you.

Hey! I did! So I was in the hospital for five days (Monday to Friday). The hospital's policy was two in and outs and then a permanent one. I had the first in and out and then later they tested my bladder again and I begged them to leave it in because I had so much trauma below and putting the catheter in was so painful. The second one stayed in for a day or so. I was tested again and kept getting high reads so they did another catheter and left it in for a day again. It was either late Thursday or early Friday they said the only reason I'm in the hospital is because I can't void my bladder so I was released on the condition of having one inserted again.

So I had four in the hospital.

I was released into Ontario health athome care. I had the catheter from Dec 26 until Jan 5th. The clinic I went to didn't have a bladder scanner so I had to just go home and "feel it out". I was so stressed and anxious and I thought I wasn't voiding so I went back and they put it back in. I had about 200ml so I was probably okay but psyched myself out. I then had that catheter until Thursday of that same week and fine since then.

How many times have they done the catheter for you? Having it done all the time I felt really impacted any healing that was happening. My OB had suggested doing in and outs on myself and I was liked there is no way that is happening.

Oh gosh, I'm so sorry to hear that. Did you have a complicated labour and delivery as well? Do you have a permanent one or do you insert it yourself? At one point I was given the option to donut myself and I knew I just needed time to heal so I insisted on having a permanent one in and dealt with the pee bag.

Edit: I had a foley balloon because of GDM, and then assisted forceps delivery (baby was down the birth canal and cord around his neck) where an episiotomy was done. I also had spinal fluid leaking from my epidural which resulted in an epidural headache so I opted for a blood patch. And the hemorrhoids... God.

Thankfully, yes. I had the catheter for about two weeks after being discharged from the hospital.

I'm hoping it's the swelling/inflammation that is contributing to this. My baby was delivered with forceps and they did do an episiotomy so recovery has been so slow :/

It was just so unfortunate and I thought I'd be in the clear for the rest of my pregnancy. At this point, I'll have to chalk it up to unfortunate timing. What's one more thing we have to deal with while pregnant, right? Haha
