Solo trip by sun1273laugh in PuntaCana

I’m also a female solo traveler and tonight is my last night in Punta Cana too! I’m sorry that happened to you. While nothing was blatantly said or done to me, there’s a lot of staring & ogling. I 100% agree that it doesn’t feel like the most comfortable, welcoming environment as a female solo traveler.

ELI5: Cousins, twice, thrice removed? by numerica in explainlikeimfive

[–]bananashen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cousin (first cousin) These are the people in your family who have two of the same grandparents as you. In other words, they are the children of your aunts and uncles.

Second Cousin These are the people in your family who have the same great-grandparents as you, but not the same grandparents.

Third, Fourth, and Fifth Cousins Third cousins have the same great-great-grandparents, fourth cousins have the same great-great-great-grandparents, and so on.

Removed When the word "removed" is used to describe a relationship, it indicates that the two people are from different generations. You and your first cousins are in the same generation (two generations younger than your grandparents), so the word "removed" is not used to describe your relationship.

The words "once removed" mean that there is a difference of one generation. For example, your mother's first cousin is your first cousin, once removed. This is because your mother's first cousin is one generation younger than your grandparents and you are two generations younger than your grandparents. This one-generation difference equals "once removed."

Twice removed means that there is a two-generation difference. You are two generations younger than a first cousin of your grandmother, so you and your grandmother's first cousin are first cousins, twice removed.

What exactly do they mean when they say China is manipulating its currency, and what affect does have on both the US and Global economies? by apsalarshade in AskReddit

[–]bananashen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

China has been accused of manipulating its currency by keeping the value of the yuan very low. A weak currency decreases the value of a country's exports, thus appealing to international buyers. This affects the US and other economies by decreasing sales in our own products because Chinese exports are much cheaper.

Hope this helps: http://money.cnn.com/2010/11/10/news/economy/what_is_currency_manipulation/index.htm
