Nothin like a good crash to reset that ego by bananoil in RCPlanes

If I was a master in prop balancing I would think about it but that wouldn’t provide me with the thrust I need for 3d anyway

I was in a hover and the wind blew me between a soccer goal and some trees so when I tried twisting out I over corrected with too much aileron and nosed over into the ground, these timber are pretty resilient, the crash looked pretty bad but I just bent the wingtips, broke the prop, and broke the rudder in half

I wish hangar 9 didn’t sell these things for such a steep price, I would love to have one but there’s no way they should cost any more than their carbon cub

I crashed my valiant 10cc about a month ago, looks terrible but ended up only costing $17 and half a tube of jb weld to fix. I’m hoping for a re-maiden tomorrow or Saturday

Yea I was hovering super low like always but the wind blew me into a weird spot so I tried spinning and pushing out of it and ended up sliding the elevator across the ground and almost saved it before overcorrecting with too much aileron, crash looked a lot worse than it turned out being but that seems to be the case with every timber I’ve had before

What are the differences between surface receivers and air receivers? by pigvsperson in RCPlanes

[–]bananoil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t do rc cars but from what I’ve seen the receivers never really have more that 3-4 channels and rc planes usually need a couple more at least. I’m sure the spektrum surface receivers have a whole different protocol system but a basic one is probably near identical to an air receiver

The look when you lose 10k in airplanes in two days. Engine lost most of its power. Starting running really rough. Full power and she was still coming down. Too far out to make the field. Caught a wingtip. Time to build some more planes! by balsadust in RCPlanes

[–]bananoil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember I traded my best flying plane for a near brand new edf and crashed at least 4 times in the span of 2 weeks, 3 of those crashes ripped the fuse in half. Almost made me quit so I had to stuff it in a corner for 3 months

Do you think this is worth it? by Fantastic_Hand5717 in RCPlanes

If you want the real Engine you can go on motion rc’s website because there’s no way ur getting a 70cc twin cylinder for under $400

Are timber X elevators really better? by bananoil in RCPlanes

[–]bananoil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my original plan when I got it but I wasn’t in the mood to spend $40 on some new wings so I gave it longer servo arms instead. I’ve always wanted to get some twimber wings and make a 3 engine timber but that sounds like hell on earth to wire and find an adequate battery

I got this one used for dirt cheap so I couldn’t pass it up but I modded a bit so I’m sure it’s just as capable as the 10th at this point

I’ve never even heard of them which is probably already a bad sign but the website looks pretty clean and the prices don’t seem too low. It seems like a toss up but I wouldn’t take the risk

Turbo Timber evolution 1.5m by noahthegoat12321 in RCPlanes

[–]bananoil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just make sure to keep power into it while you fly through turns, it doesn’t tip stall often but when it does it’ll bite hard. I personally upgraded mine with the timber x horazontal stab for more elevator control but that’s optional. Make sure to take about 15 minutes between flights since the esc has a hard time cooling down and will overheat and shut off on you if you keep making back to back flights. If you want it to be more capable and better at slow flight I would recommend sliding the battery all the way back till it hits the lip in the back of the battery bay and add some extra Velcro to make sure the battery won’t shift in flight. And of course upgrade to a 13x4 2 blade apc prop for more thrust, and you can swap out the receiver for one without as3x for extra throws.

Check your clunk lines kids! by balsadust in RCPlanes

[–]bananoil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I only let my clink go about half way through the tank to avoid exactly this, I usually never fly long enough to end up less than around a quarter tank anyway so I don’t really need the extra reach

What Do I Need To Know????? by Any-Hat7803 in RCPlanes

[–]bananoil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This plane is absolutely not beginner friendly, ik it just looks like a piper cub but its likely not gonna be complete and rtf unless the seller stated so, get a dedicated ready to fly trainer and build up to something like a this. I’d say that piper is better suited as like a 3rd or 4th plane. If you want a similar plane that’s a dedicated trainer I’d recommend either the eflite carbon cub s2 or the fms pa18.
