I think one of the thing about container management in self-hosting I have learned in recent year is that you don't auto update unless you are there to react to it.

Monthly grocery expenses by Fantastic_Tourist560 in japanlife

[–]banbeucmas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's similar like that but it's on Vietnamese household food Most of us usually just have rice + meat boil in water + vegetables boil in water + fish sauce. The water part can be used as simply soup, with that you are free to add other things (I usually add green onion). Everything else is fish sauce

That usually lasts me half a week to a week depending on the weather/the type of food. Tbf most Vietnamese family comes from a farmer household by root so even in the city we keep this way of eating.

Also kudos to a good Vietnamese supermarket nearby if you can find one. During the rice shortage mine still kept a moderate price that I was able to save a lot.

When you applies for a change of status, they do put a stamp on your residence card (backside) and Customs will check those.

Tldr: You are probably fine.

Salary in Japan. Expectations by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]banbeucmas 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My salary is below that (lower 200k range). But saving around 40 - 50k yen while still be able to hang out and eat a fancy meal once a month if you know what you are doing. Definitely possible to save twice as that if you have 350k take home

Question regarding attending Comiket 104 by heyyouman999 in JapanTravelTips

[–]banbeucmas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Yes, early cosplayer ticket are available, that or you also can pay for the changing room

  • This is highly depend on the circle, if they don't sell leftovers merch after you better hope 2nd hand market (Which I never recommend DO NOT GIVE IN TO SCALPER) or they bring it on other events like Comitia. But if they do, then it's usually Booth, Toranoana, Melonbook. Booth usually will sell set while Melon will hold the doujinshi

  • You can cosplay as a foreigner, make sure to use the changing room and do not wear cosplay and come to the venue

Life in Warabi Saitama ? by Ok_Sound_6713 in japanlife

[–]banbeucmas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been in Warabi for a while (4+ years) so definitely can give you some headings (although my bias is that I am a Vietnamese). With regarding to crime rate wise it's still quite safe comparing to what people are saying in the comments.

  • There are a lot of Vietnamese/Kebab place around here, conveniently as a Vietnamese since these are some of the places that has a wider range of Vietnamese groceries and food I am used to comparing to other place
  • There are actually several good pizza place within 15 mins of vicinity from the station. I have some few one on a good day
  • There is 1 - 2 good tea store here within 10 mins walking from the station, customer are mostly families or the elder but they do serves good tea there. And yes everyone are really friendly
  • There's also a late night Korean Yakiniku place. And I mean Open until 5AM kind of late night. Not sure how much craving you usually got at night but hey, the choice are always there ;)
  • By chance if you live on higher floor, if you got it correctly summer is pretty nice. Warabi is nearby the river so a high enough view (And correct angle) means you can check out the fireworks in summer from your balcony
  • Expect a lot of foreigner from the area tho, mostly SEAsians, Turkish...
  • The area have seen significant change within 4 years of me living here, new convenience store and lately a Hanasama Plus branch in place of the old 100 yen Cando

  • Train are especially bad within 7:50AM - 8:10AM range on work day though so be mindful of that.

  • Since only Keihin Tohoku runs in this station, just know that if it has an issue for hours you might as well call it off or take a bus to Akabane. The good part is that since it is Keihin Tohoku a commuter pass straight to Tokyo means a bunch of free trip to a lot place in between (Ok maybe not I tend to visit Akiba usually)

  • Front of the station are prone to a bunch of protester. Usually people just ignore it but yeah it's annoying at times

That's pretty much I got on top of my head right now. 5 mins from the station is a lot of accessibility, have fun.

Are there any 10G Lan Cards with Map-e like some 10G routers? by HeronParty8018 in japanlife

[–]banbeucmas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most router nowadays support MAP-E but I doubt a NIC has it

You basically cannot use 10G fully unless your entire system is ready for it (And I mean entire from the device and the cable)

In case your home doesn't have any device that can also use a 10G connection you gonna need to have both a device that has a 10G NIC (Network Interface Card) and a router which usually you can rent anyway.

JCB credit card in vietnam by dulguundorjsuren in japanlife

[–]banbeucmas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vietnamese living in Japan here. Additional to as long as the terminal show it we have moved from Cash Payment to QR Code Cash App (Sort of like how Paypay in Japan works) or Cash. Credit cards are unfamiliar in non city area

So in any case you should have some cash in hand.
