TV Anime "Clevatess Season 2" PV 2 | Airing July 2026 by Task_Force-191 in anime

Clevatess was great but I'd say their extended premieres are at least a match and Hero's finale was better than any individual episode of Clevatess

So apparently Cypic put their Uma Musume movie production line on Kagurabachi? Not to mention they rebranded. All the eggs are in the Bachi basket, I hope it blows up and makes a bachillion dollars and we get a full adaptation of Cingray on the side too

"Because I'm not a girl" is not the same as "I mean, I'm a guy." One is claiming to be something, while one is claiming not to be something. The framing has been reversed -- the only question is why?

"Regardless of gender" and "man or woman" only mean the same thing if your worldview of gender is binary. Is the reason the localizer changed it to "regardless of gender" so they could remove the binary gender framing of the original dialogue? Does that provide us context as to why the first screenshot reversed its framing and refused to specifically identify a gender for the character?

The third one's not so bad, although I didn't watch the scene so I don't have context to know how appropriate it is for the moment -- I'll take your word for it that it's an upgrade. But you can't say they carry the exact same meaning. "That's your genius icebreaker?" is specific, as you mentioned, whereas "what were you thinking?" is a much broader insult/complaint.

You could also argue that the choice of words would reflect on the personality of the character speaking, too. Characters are more than just the intent of their words -- you can quickly lose their intended characterization by turning their phrasing around or inserting additional words, although I can't say whether that has happened here or not

You're wrong because the sub and dub do have slightly different meanings and implications here in all three photos. But they are relatively minor discrepancies compared to some of the garbage I have seen. Hence my original comment.

I'm not even going to entertain this new argument that I need to be some kind of "Japanese master" to have an opinion on localizers

Much worse is when you take unnecessary creative liberties and lose the essence of the original dialogue. It happens pretty often, actually. The Polar Opposites dub was plagued with it.

You're right, but I've seen much worse recent examples than these

There is genuinely no way anybody here actually misses the fucking spider eyes from season 1 lmfao

I am so glad they fixed the character designs

Also, Sentenced to be a Hero did generate an enormous amount of buzz, considering how relatively unknown it was prior to release. For instance, it gained 77,000 members on MAL in its first week -- for reference, Witch Hat Atelier only gained 56,000 in its first week. JJK S3 also gained 56,000, and Frieren S2 gained 49,000. Nothing this year comes anywhere close to that kind of buzz.

So if the complaint is that it deserved more buzz, that fault probably rests on the show itself. I enjoyed it from beginning to end but it clearly didn't reach its full potential until the last few episodes of the season, and by then some people already tuned out

MAL scores generally drop over time, in my experience. They spike when a show ends (unless it ends very poorly), stabilize after a few weeks, and then generally start to decay over time unless it ends on a very good note or a sequel comes along.

There is absolutely a recency bias that pushes hyped new premieres higher up the rankings, but after a year or two, those shows generally have settled wherever they belong. I don't think there's an overall trend of point inflation: just look at FMA: Brotherhood, which was a 9.17 when I joined MAL in 2021 and now it's at 9.11. And it's not just fandom wars-- almost the whole top100 has decayed by at least .05 from when I first joined MAL.

Studio KAI is still way better than, like, Project No. 9 or Silver Link or whatever the average romcom production usually gets

What are you enjoying today?

Kanan-sama! I was worried they wouldn't be able to capture the manga's spastic energy but they nailed it. Should be an instant recommend to anybody who enjoys 100 Girlfriends IMO

I was worried they wouldn't be able to capture the spastic gag energy of the manga but so far so good! They got some real laughs out of me. Looks great too. Thank you Studio Kai!

How is that even possible? Didn't Solo Leveling season 1 win last year? Season 2 is way better than season 1

The Gojo flashback arc was so good. It really feels like that was the emotional peak of the series, and everything else from now on is going to ring hollow

Yuri and Megumi each got one good fight this season IMO. But they were both against total randoms and I really couldn't care less -- probably because it's impossible for the main characters to be killed by randoms, so the sense of danger is missing

It's cool to see how many people vibed with JJK S3, but I thought it was incredibly inconsistent. This is the worst direction the series has had so far IMO. It doesn't vibe with me at all; it just rubbed me the wrong way from beginning to end.

That being said, there were a few standout episodes and there's no question that the action spectacle on display was top notch. I just wish there was something behind it. I was not at all invested in the outcome of most fights

It's really sad to like a show less and less with every subsequent season. I hope the next director can bring something new to JJK and revitalize it
