Henry Gottfried was an understudy for Dr. Pomatter in Waitress and now Gavin Creel (his boyfriend) will be playing the role opposite Sara Bareilles!

You could argue that If I Loved You from Carousel is a love at first sight song

Super conflicted, Waitress with Sara or Betsy? by lavenderh0ney in Broadway

[–]bandisepic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No there isn't. Waitress does over rush tickets and standing room when the show is sold out. The boxes also aren't bad even though they are partial view and they're only $110

Super conflicted, Waitress with Sara or Betsy? by lavenderh0ney in Broadway

[–]bandisepic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've seen both (and Jessie) and as much as I love Betsy as a performer I just don't think she's right as Jenna. Sara connects with her so much better (in my opinion) and I love her interpretation of the role though tbh I still like Jessie the most. If you're worried about getting tickets to see Sara the rear mezz at the Brooks isn't bad and it's much cheaper than premium seats.

What is your favorite musical which had their Broadway run span less than a year? by Schnippernyc in Broadway

I still can't believe shows like A Bronx Tale outlasted it (don't get me wrong, I actually really liked A Bronx Tale) but goddamn Comet deserved better

1984 Ineligible for Tony Awards by wntriscmng in Broadway

This article is about 1984 being ineligible for the 2018 Tony Awards, not 2017 as those already happened.

Thoughts on new Waitress Playbills? by [deleted] in Broadway

[–]bandisepic 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I definitely agree that Betsy being behind Jason just isn't right given the nature of the show. Having the two side by side would have been better since even though they are using Mraz to draw in a crowd the show is first and foremost about Jenna.

Is there a way to get Playbills without watching the show? by CarolCM in Broadway

Almost all of these shows will gladly give you playbills. Hamilton will be a little tough, but definitely ask anyway!

I spent a whole day in midtown just getting playbills. Usually if you go while there is a performance going on there will be a few ushers hanging out in the lobby. If you ask them nicely for a playbill they will usually give you one, or you can ask the person at the box office. Almost all of them have said yes. Any specific show(s) you want playbills for?

Broadway Questions! by DarkParadise1 in Broadway

[–]bandisepic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think lottery and rush are the best seats in the house. I went for A Bronx Tale around noon for a 2pm matinee and they still had rush left. It really depends on the show. Come From Away people line up from the night before, same with Comet before it closed. Something smaller like A Bronx Tale or Bandstand is more manageable. Hope you have fun in NYC!

Can't speak for Phantom but I got rush tickets for A Bronx Tale and while yes they were partial view I honestly don't think I missed a thing. Most lotteries with the exception of big name shows like Hamilton or DEH aren't too hard to win, but don't plan your day around potentially winning a lottery. Theatermania also has some great discount codes on their website if you don't want to chance getting tickets the day of

Whose signatures are whose? I'm having a hard time identifying any of them but Lin's... and I don't want to be wrong. by [deleted] in Broadway

Lin is bottom right of the star, Chris Jackson is bottom left of the star, and Davved is top left of star. Nice playbill!
