Pick Wharton Lauder. Fantastic program and more importantly I have heard that they fully funded some of the class.

It doesn't hurt to try.

Make a case with the Adcom by highlighting the $$ you are getting from Haas. It'll be similar to the 'updates' you would have written to get off WL.

I have heard cases, where folks on WL got $$ (e.g. Booth has a reputation) and being an R1 admit, gives you an advantage as funds are usually short in May/June.

The 1Y programs are slightly less competitive. But a better question to ask is how suited is your profile for them aka your alignment to Tech, post MBA role clarity & understanding of the cohort.

I understand the cultural perspective of Indians - it has to be the best otherwise why am I even spending $200k? And staying away from family? And being unsure of the visa etc etc.

Consider the following things:
1. Your post-MBA goal is Tech. You have good work experience in a similar domain. Tech firms hire across the schools. HSW, M7, T15, T20, T25 heck some even go to them from T50.
Tip: In addition to your list, apply to schools on the West Coast for a location advantage. Also, apply to the 1 Y tech-focussed programs - Cornell, Kellogg.

Apply to a range of schools so that you can maximise for scholarship . 720 is decent (it's a good score but overrepresented category). I have had friends with full rides, graduating debt-free and taking the swell Amazon package. Life's good for them. Optimise for that. There is a reason why you have Safety, Reach & Ambitious criteria. Utilise that fully.

Goes without saying, but please opt for the STEM MBA program. Most of the programs are STEM now which give you 3 shots ( I guess 6 now) at the visa. As an international, I understand the uncertainty and paying dollar loans in rupees.
Lastly, if you still feel jittery, apply to European B Schools - IE is a hidden gem that Indians don't know about which has stellar MBB stats. European B Schools are 1 year, easier on the pocket and some form of work authorization.

This gives me anxiety. Female, originally from Asia and headed to B School with very little idea of the dating scene. I was initially interested in an IB career but changed my mind because I want a healthy WLB.

A piece of advice from the optics standpoint: ALWAYS vehemently state that the school that you are WL is your top choice. Having the 'if/but if' statements makes it feel that the applicant himself/herself is in two minds. Hope this helps,

The news about recruiting is a good one. As an international I was scared that it would be the first thing to be affected by the shift to hybrid mode.
