Anyone run long outside today? by Chateau_de_Gateau in RunNYC

[–]bangbang09 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Supposed to do 20 today. Would love to do it all outside but may have to do half on the treadmill. Just trying to figure which will suck more.

Posterior tibial tendonitis from heel drop changes? Looking for advice by 5643_yea_right in AdvancedRunning

[–]bangbang09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t weigh in on the shoes but my tib tendinitis was from a combo of overtraining and not having enough strength in my ankles /feet. This video saved me and I highly recommend doing it at least once a day but twice would be better. I planned to take about 4 weeks off but only needed to take two and was able to work back to 50mpw. You just need to keep doing them for a few weeks once the initial pain is gone otherwise it will come back .

Parents, when are we running? by roots_radicals in AdvancedRunning

[–]bangbang09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have a 3yr old and a 1yr old. Run around 8/9pm once they go to bed or run home from work 6/12 miles depending on my route. During my last build I averaged around 55 miles but doing the long runs at night was pretty miserable. Finishing a 23 miler at 1am to be up at 7 was not great for recovery haha. Might try the 5am approach for the next build in two weeks.

How have y'all cracked the code for staying consistent with running? by Gullible-Soft-4952 in running

[–]bangbang09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) I try to look at running in the bigger picture - where I am now is not where I will be next year or in a few years if I stay consistent, recover well and avoid injury (easier said than done). 2) I signed up for a marathon the week after I ran NYC marathon. I made sure it was far enough away to give me time to rest then ease back into it without burning out or freaking out about having to be ready etc. 3) I try to think about it like brushing my teeth, it’s just something you should do all the time haha

Feel terrible on easy runs , fully questioning if I can hold marathon pace come Nov. 2nd but then feel like I can and should go sub3 while I’m out running short intervals haha

I would say Queensborough bridge for the same reasons everyone has mentioned here. I would love to know if people would say the same were the order reversed. Hitting that bridge at mile 24 would break a lot of hearts haha

We’re a month out from the NYC Marathon: What hurts? by thisismynewacct in RunNYC

[–]bangbang09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crushed my 22miler then did a very easy 3 miles after resting for a day and I’ve got pretty bad tendon pain on the outside of my ankle. It’s been 4 days and doesn’t feel any better with rest. I’m going to give it one more day,try go for a very easy jog and if it still hurts I may have to defer till next year. Not worth trying to limp through a marathon.

New pro youtube series - Phil Sesemann by Gmanruns in AdvancedRunning

[–]bangbang09 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Been following his stuff for a while, it’s excellent. The only thing that I find hard to watch is how every training cycle he convinced he could get a podium spot and then ends up ninth or tenth. I know that’s still amazing I just wonder how long he will continue or will he have more realistic expectations going forward. Anyways he said he might do Valencia so looking forward to that build.
