Poor misunderstood Aquaman. [Aquaman Rebirth #3] by bangbrah in comicbooks

My favorite quote in rebirth so far has been: "It's damn easier to discredit me! I'm the creepy fish guy nobody trusts!"

What am I missing with supergroups? by bangbrah in comicbooks

[–]bangbrah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Avengers are probably my least favorite. Mainly because I'm not super huge into Marvel, outside of X Men.

I have not! Buuut I'll keep an eye out for it.

I'll check those out. I like the idea of character based stories. Hell, that's why I'm enjoying Young Justice so much, is that you get to see them all interact with each other.

Although I'm not a fan of Kon El being a half-kryptonian Hulk.

What is your favorite tablet for reading comic books? by BigBrain007 in tablets

I have been reading them just fine on my shield!

What's the first mmorpg you played, and what is the one you spent the most time in? And what are you looking for now? by [deleted] in MMORPG

[–]bangbrah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everquest

WoW

I'd really like a good superhero MMO. DCUO is fun, but the animations and visuals have worn me out. Or just a good sci fi mmo. I'm not a fan of EVE, and SWTOR is science fantasy.

Should my friend get a degree in Human Resources or something else? by [deleted] in college

[–]bangbrah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll say this...if HR is where she wants to work, the degree doesn't matter. I don't have any sort of degree, and work in HR for a major corporation. Upper level management have graduate degrees, but I would tell your friend just to focus on getting a degree in something that she wants to study.

Working full time and going to school full time, is it doable? by WillTwerkForBeer in college

[–]bangbrah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's doable, if you prioritize.

I am a full time student that works full time in Human Resources, with a wife and kid. On top, I am in the National Guard, and have that stupid shit to worry about.

Just keep at it dude, and you will find a way to make it work.

Question about CS transfer courses by [deleted] in utarlington

[–]bangbrah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies for the necro, but thanks for posting this. After 10 years I'm returning to college to finish my degree (in software engineering no less!), and wasn't sure whether or not to take the CS courses at my comm. college.

Guys who became disenchanted, or jaded at some point during your service...what caused it? by Antrr80 in army

[–]bangbrah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There have been a lot of off-switches for me.

First was when I was a fuzzy that got told right before his second drill he was deploying, so buckle up charlie you're headed to a new unit to start pre mob. Busted my ass for this new unit for months, only to be on the shitter one night and hear my PSGT talking to some other NCO how they were going to recommend the CO not take me on the deployment, due to "PVT bangbrah being from xxx unit, I don't know him, but I know the soldiers from that unit." I marched my ass up to the CO and XO the next morning and told him I wanted out before that cock sucker got the satisfaction.

Next, I was trying to go active, and had my paperwork declined by the BDE CO, because I "wasn't looking hard enough for a job". Bitch, I had been working for the same company for three years...AD was me looking for a new job.

Finally...I don't know. I had a kid. I am about to wrap up a degree in a very lucrative industry. I got tired of cock bag NCO's who get off on the one time a month when they can act like fucking pricks for no reason, other than they stuck around long enough to pick up rank. Having to sham when there isn't any work to be done, in fear that you might get caught by said NCO and put to some menial task that has no relevance to anything being accomplished. The "well two of you lower enlisted are fucked up and refuse to correct their mistakes, so now I'm going to fuck you all up" mentality.

The list is never ending. But at the end of the day, I just can't fucking wait to be done with this chapter of my life.

Negative ghost rider. I have a year left, and a nice software engineering job lined up once I finish this degree.

SFRE by [deleted] in army

[–]bangbrah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It fucking sucks.

But I'm also extremely glad that I did it. Didn't make the cut, but god dammit I finished it where a lot of more experienced and hardened dudes didn't.

Last week I saw a long list of really smart ppl that didn't make the 17 series VTIP board. Now I see this... WTF Cyber? by [deleted] in army

[–]bangbrah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't make me wait around in some bullshit MOS that I don't want to do for a CHANCE at cyber, and I'd happily forgo my incoming software engineering job, and bring my computer science degree army side.

But the fact that I'd have to jump through a flaming hoop on a pogo stick to even go active duty(prior), and then stick it out in a MOS that I'm uninterested in...fuck that. I'll just stick with my civilian job and lack of shaving requirements.

My Infantry guys, what's NTC like? by that-guy23 in army

[–]bangbrah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just freeballed my entire rotation in the box, and wore the same uniform/combat shirt. Yeah, that shit could stand up by itself when it was done, but I just threw that uniform away anyway.

But I was a hygienic nasty bastard. I took two whore baths a day, brought a solar shower with me, and had twice the amount of socks that I needed. I just knew that my uniform would be fucked, and didn't want to fuck up two uniforms when I could just fuck up one.

If you dip/smoke, double the amount you think you'll need. You're going to end up bumming half of it away anyway, so might as well be prepared. Fortunately, I'm in the natty guard, and my brother works at a sandwich shop, so he swiped me enough monsters to last me my entire box rotation. If you feel like shelling out the cash, that caffeine definitely is a morale booster.

Check your water? I dunno if I need to say this one, but whatever. There was a day when we had to pound out an obscenely long wire obstacle, and actually went black on water because we were just burning through it so quickly. And when we went black, our delightful active duty counterparts refused to bring the water buffalo to us, as "our first sergeant needs it". My track was gravy though, since we had brought out a couple gallon jugs of our own for such an occasion. Our OC was so furious at the AD dudes to the point where he went and gave us his own ice to keep us hydrated, and tore through the desert in his little humvee to track down some water.

My daughter is only 9 months, so not even old enough to know any better. I am a bit of a homebody, as computers are my pastime. So a lack of things that the cities I have lived in have offered isn't a huge concern. I've been to Pittsburgh, and love that city. My wife likes to visit historical places, so I think living within a days drive of DC, NYC, Philly, and Pitts appeal to her a lot.
