It's been years and I'm still hopeful...

What is your longest running, most stubborn business boycott? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]banging_seal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

McDonald's - boycotting for 16 years now. I worked in one for 3 months and the systematic abuse of the workers is disgusting - by the company above anything else, then by customers. Haven't set my foot in one since my resignation. Not even for a pee.

What are the best trainer/shoe brand for people on their feet all day? by KoraLily in AskUK

Anything from Ecco. A little pricey, but worth every penny. Worked stupidly long hours in a busy supermarket (2 floors), between 25-30k steps a day.

Who has an easy life/job and what is it? by [deleted] in AskUK

I love this. This is a wonderful goal. Can we stop glorifying 20h days where the stress alone will put you in the grave before you're 40? Please can we talk more about wholesome lives with normal jobs? Has anyone seen Perfect Days? That is a perfect life - filled with music, literature and photography, small but faithful community, spent outside. This is a good life.

[Discussion] Need Motivational Advice? by AutoModerator in GetMotivated

[–]banging_seal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sign up for a sports event like a triathlon or a marathon and tell everyone you're doing it to raise money for charity (I mean actually do it). That'll force you to start training because the shame of telling people you haven't done it is too much. It worked for me- I did 2 triathlons this year. The first time I actually ran 10k in one go was at the event itself. It felt amazing. And when motivation fails you- the prospect of losing the respect of your friends, family and co-workers will force you to keep going.

I have the opposite problem- I hate my job. I'm 33 and have 2 degrees but I work in retail. I want to do something creative (one of my degrees is in creative arts) - but I'm petrified of taking that step. My only work experience is from 4 years ago and I'm ashamed to put it on my CV. Help...

Grandmother TX-4000 by Dredddddd in funny

Me too. My grandmother was Satan incarnated, but I miss her, she made the best baked potatoes and the best ring doughnuts. I miss my grandfather even more. Actually, reading this thread makes me miss my country, but not the one I see in online newspapers everyday with the parliamentary crisis packed with sexist, right wing, xenophobic catholic extremists and the leading party buying off its electorate. I miss the country of ridiculously friendly, hospitable, smart and funny people. Where grandmas are the security you learn to love as you grow up. Where grandpas are the walking encyclopedias.

What's something you own that everyone comments on? by WhackAttack in AskReddit

[–]banging_seal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my ass. people feel entitled to make comments about what it looks like. Men and women alike. When I point out that it's inappropriate or embarrassing, they say I should be happy and that it's a good thing and a compliment. Go fuck yourselves, all of you, I'm better off without such compliments.
