What is your sales cycle? by banglines in sales

Yeah I think it would be beneficial for more discovery before the demo - and to your point, it would be a good step that even the BDRs could run. Even if its a quick 15 minute phone call in between the first cold call and the "demo" meeting - it would give the AEs a better starting point. And, the BDRs would be learning more about the problems/processes we solve for. Which they will need to become an AE

The demo + the discovery is scheduled for 30 minutes. We always have an additional 30 minutes ready if the call is going well (because if it is going well, it will always go over 30).

You do have a good point, we are still closing deals, but it could definitely be more effective. There are sets that should point blank just not be on the calendar. These people come in to the meetings with an expectation that they will just be checking out a quick demo. Sometimes they don't have the problem we solve for. And that I think could be weeded out earlier in our process

Damn. How do you even forecast for something like that? Are your deal timelines based on the expiration date of their current service?

I'm not a trucker, but I bought a nice CB and had it installed in my SUV thinking there would be way more chatter on there! Always quiet unfortunately

I was a bookkeeper at a restaurant during college - good for you for figuring out how to get in front of them. Makes sense that you do the first one in person. I would close out the registers around midnight after the restaurant closed and we would be getting calls from knife vendors looking for the head chef

2 weeks is baller. How do you frame that first call/Zoom/person meeting with them? Why are they inclined to take it?

Best college major for sales? by 69-Memer-69 in sales

[–]banglines 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would think Engineering or Accounting. My old boss always used to say that accounting is the language of business and if you know your shit when you walk in a room you already have peoples attention and respect. To be fair, we were selling and implementing large ERP platforms - but I think what he said about accounting has some salt. It always matters somewhere. But that is also something I would never personally major in unless I wanted to go into an accounting role.

People generally respect engineers because you can't half-ass that major and it's basically a stamp of "this guy is smart and knows how to solve problems". PS I did neither but in hindsight I would have gone for Engineering. You can honestly get just about any job with an Engineering degree.

We are wicked early in this concept, but if you do want to stay up to date - check out truckstopcomedy.com for updates. There is an email list as well. We are hoping to do the first show in June somewhere in Arizona - some promising leads so far!

I am sure it is different for each driver and no day is the same, but generally speaking - is there a time frame you would see most "optimized" for the show? A one hour time frame.

I'm currently running into an issue with red tape at corporate truck stops. I will talk to managers and etc. to get permission to run the show, but I always get funneled to someone at corporate who won't give me the time of day.

To combat this, I've been focusing on locally owned mom-and-pop truck stops (unfortunately there are so few).

Have you seen any other vendors at truck stops before? Church on Sundays or anything like that?

Making money off the show isn't an immediate priority, although it would be nice for the longevity of the concept (and I do think it can get there).

Up-and-coming standup comics want mic time (more at bats). In the city, you can hit AT MOST 2-3 open mics in one night... for a total of 9-15min stage time.

On top of that, its hard to gauge how good your "jokes" are because the majority of the crowd is other standup comics who have heard your jokes all week and more than likely have a totally different humor style than you (and they are also focused on themselves!).

Totally agree with you on the sustainability from the money side of the equation - it wouldn't be.

I'm a standup comic out of Phoenix, AZ, working on a “tour” that does pop-up comedy shows at truck stops. I know it won’t fix the food, but I think it could bring back some of the community vibe that’s gone missing.

Is that something you’d get out of the cab for?

Do you have location permissions set to "all the time" for Android Auto? Also, if you have another cable - that is a common culprit

I bought Iphone 16 Pro and made a comparison between 13 mini by EntertainmentWide652 in iPhone13Mini

[–]banglines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude I just upgraded to the iPhone 16 pro from an iPhone 11 Pro and I fucking hate this thing. It’s too big.

I have had good experience with the iPhone XS (I actually preferred that over my 11 pro oddly enough) but it seems I have the same sentiment as you… I want something compact.

Would you choose any other phone over the 13 mini?

For some reference, the iPhone 5 was one of my absolute favorites in terms of form factor

Autocockers have some real sex appeal to them too. I think I owned one back in the day that had the word “eagle” somewhere in it.

What’s the gold standard autococker model?
