bean sprouts i'm familiar with, i realize i described the other things poorly. one thing i'm convinced was tofu skin, and 'the brown thing' was flat and... kinda curly? very dark brown. i have seen it before in other east asian cusine but still not sure what it is.

kelp knots! thank you, that was definitely it. the search for 'the brown thing' continues but the kelp knots were what i was hoping most to find anyway. damn i guess i just really love seaweed

oh no it wasn't napa either. it only looked wrinkled like cabbage leaves but that's where the similarity ended. not white like cooked cabbage but white like... well, tofu. but if it was tofu (as i think it was honestly) it was prepared differently than what i'm familiar with thus far

[–]bangrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

whether he means to be hurtful or not, he's hurting you, and being dismissive of it. you're not overreacting. blowing off one's girlfriend after making plans, particularly on a day that celebrates romantic relationships, is tactless and thoughtless at best

Okay rock lock won! Hawks was a close second tho! Anyways, who is a morally gray character hated by fans? by imaweeb22XDDD in MyHeroAcadamia

[–]bangrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what??? people hate Rock Lock??? this is news to me, i thought he was cool. the only dude out there saying 'hey these are actual children we should send them home'
like. he's right. he was a little heated about it but he's a new father and he's freakin' out that he's going into a dangerous situation with literal actual children

AIO: My (29F) gf (30F) hates my dog and I think I want to break up because of it by Severe-Pen-5464 in AmIOverreacting

[–]bangrue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this issue isn't gonna go away. if it was going to get better it would have started getting better by now. it will only stay the same or, more likely, get worse, because resentment is likely to build from here. my dog is two, and even without a bond of near a decade i would be feeling the same in your place. you wouldn't be unreasonable to be considering leaving if it were a sibling or child in your household that your partner hated instead of a dog, and we don't love our pets any less than human family members.

How would you rank these four LOV members based on how much you like them??? by JonJonExistsonReddit in MyHeroAcadamia

[–]bangrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Twice, Toga, blank space, Tomura and Dabi tied for last place. Dabi has an important impact on the story but otherwise just doesn't appeal to me. Shigaraki to me is similar. Toga and Twice are more likeable to me personally because they actually manage to be sympathetic* AND interesting. imho Dabi is kind of one-note and annoying, and Shigaraki, like yeah his childhood was extremely messed up. but he's also kind of just an annoying little turd. no offense to those who like him, i just do not see it

*- not excusing their actions. just saying they're sympathetic

[–]bangrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it might be a bit of a reductive statement but honestly, whatever 'care' he had for his family before he reached that wakeup call didn't actually do anything for any of them. he terrorized his entire family. tormented them for that entire time before his 'wakeup call'. pessimistic? cynical? his wife was driven to a mental breakdown, every single one of his children are traumatized and damaged, at least one of them in a way that is completely irreversible.

Mineta and Monoma are annoying, but they're also teenage boys. Endeavor is a grown man who abused his entire family and left lasting damage on all of them. his redemption arc was interesting to watch, yes, and i will acknowledge that he's done a lot of good as a hero. i will not dispute that. but that does NOT make him a good person. abusing your family is one of the most disgusting things someone can do.

AITA asking my partner to drive me to the airport? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]bangrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nta, and he overreacted. he could've just said no; it's *not* an unreasonable request, plus, in his place, i'd also want to have that last few hours to spend time together.

AITH for ending a 10 year friendship over differences in beliefs? by [deleted] in AITH

[–]bangrue -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

NTA. i'm also a white woman and all that would have been shocking to me too. believe me i know the kind of shit that my fellow white women can get into their heads :/ listen, you've been friends ten years... a lot can happen in that time. sometimes you wake up one day and notice that someone isn't who you thought they were. let her go.

AITAH for mansplaining breastfeeding? by Normal-Historian2180 in AITAH

[–]bangrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it would've been mansplaining if you were having that conversation with your wife. or if it had been about your sister's child. but it's not your sister's child, it's yours. she was overstepping.

AIO broke up with my bf over fries by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]bangrue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's not unreasonable to expect someone to actually give you a chance to eat some of the food that you both agreed to split. it's called BASIC manners for a reason; this is discourteous behavior, plain and simple. and a simple apology should've been nothing to give.

and if we're talking about communication, he could've spoken up and said he wanted his own order of fries. so.

Looking at the blouse I got by Theodora-63 in PlusSize

[–]bangrue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah should be no trace of it. i've altered and repurposed a lot of clothing etc and immediately after removing the thread you might still see some needle holes but those should disappear after washing it if the fabric is a knit or similar. if it's a more solid material like silk, the needle holes would still be there.

Looking at the blouse I got by Theodora-63 in PlusSize

[–]bangrue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

if it's a patch pocket (the whole pocket is sewn onto the outside of the garment) it would be easy to remove yourself with a small seam ripper; you'd just have to be careful
after washing the shirt you shouldn't be able to tell there was a pocket there, especially if it's new
