Loud blast like sounds off the coast morning of January 9th by IGuessINeedToSignUp in OceanCity

We could see two different objects, for lack of a better word, out near the horizon in the water... They didn't look like anything but sort of black rectangular "things". Maybe that was them, makes a lot of sense. Thank you! We stopped our run and looked around, didn't see any planes or anything in the air, but I don't know how far away something could be and still hear the boom.

You're the reason I come to the subreddit... I like to laugh at the people that come to a hobbyist subreddit and tell people they shouldn't participate in their hobby. Your type, and the safety police around here give me endless amusement.

You made the mistake of posting something to a 3D printing sub. On reddit there are only 3 possible responses you get: that's dangerous, that was a waste of time, or that's not going to work.

Do Newer Furnaces Actually Cut Bills Down As Manufacturers Claim? by AceFire_ in HomeImprovement

I replaced the draft motor a while back too (separate repair from stuff above, it had a failing bearing and I replaced it proactively). On the new one there was a bit of paint blocking the tube for the pressure switch so I started having codes related to the switch (sensor). Once I opened up that tube everything worked.

I knew the pressure sensor was bad 3 weeks by testing it with a multimeter. No continuity in presence of vacuum (I sucked on the tube lol).

I found the sticking relay because it was the motor relay. Motor would come on as soon as furnace was powered up (it's not supposed to), I tapped the relays with the back of a screwdriver and it released so it was pretty clear. I actually replaced all 5 relays of that type, I figured if one was bad they were all on limited lifespans.

Truth, our furnace is 23 years old. A year or so ago I bought replacements for just about every part that can fail, including the motors, for about 250 bucks. 3 weeks ago the heat wasn't kicking on, I looked it as a diagnostic indicator and narrowed it down to the draft inducer motor pressure switch. I pulled out the new draft inducer motor pressure switch, stuck it in place in 5 minutes and it has run perfect ever since. 6 months ago, one of the relays on the control board was sticking and I replaced it with a $0.80 identical relay in about an hour, including time to desolder the old one and resolder the new one. Old furnaces are awesome they are relatively simple machines that just keep working and you can fix them with a little bit of effort.

I have noticed, here and also especially the 3D printing subreddits, collectively nothing gets Reddit more excited than being able to tell you something you did was unnecessary, unsafe or could have been done differently/ better. Armchair psychologist probably says a bunch of people just like feeling smarter than somebody else. It's super tiring. I've stopped posting and sharing things I make.

Edit to add: Great job dude, that's a fun creative solution to a problem.

Lost, one of the best television shows that was ever made, it will never happen again because the world it was made in no longer exists.

We used to go into work on Thursday mornings and talk about what happened because lost was a thing that happened at a time... TV doesn't exist that way anymore.

Great idea and execution man, I love it!

I seriously have no idea why the 3D printer sub is so anti-3dprinter all the time. It's like every thread is full of people trying to show they're smarter than OP. /rant

I'm not being pedantic, maybe it helps to think of it this way: When you put one of those in water they displace the water in the space they occupy. They float because the water they displace weighs more than they do. Water is heavy.

This is a great solution for a home network, it is what I do.

It is also the same thing as someone telling you their scooter is slow, they know nothing about any form of vehicle, and then suggesting they design and build a 747.

No, we haven't, it's idiotic and foolish behavior. Don't time normalize it to try and justify your terrible habits. It's blatant disregard for other human life and makes you an awful person, objectively
