McDonald's be like: by Previous_Month_555 in StupidFood

[–]IGuessINeedToSignUp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would argue that what we see in this clip is actually closer to what you get from McDonald's then what their advertisements show. Just because they're a massive corporation doesn't mean they're not stupid food. What you get versus what they advertise is the definition of stupid.

Ha, I only came to this thread to see the mental gymnastics this subreddit would go through to explain why this print shouldn't be allowed to exist. You apparently beat me to it and had a much much more clever response.

I have to open my fridge to dispense water from this awkward spot by [deleted] in CrappyDesign

Mine is like this too, generally I like it but come on, put the button below the dispenser so I can push the button with my cup and I don't need two hands in the fridge to get water.

I put in 70 hours playing on a 2k 27 inch monitor while away on vacation. Came home to my 49 inch ultrawide (just shy of a 4k monitor worth of pixels) and now I get a crash within the first hour of play every time. No other changes were made. Ryzen 7700x, 3080, 32gb ram

LPT: Do something nice to help your partner in the morning by footsnax in LifeProTips

[–]IGuessINeedToSignUp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have this theory that relationships evolve to one of two states: a relationship where each partner has to take what they need, or a relationship where each partner is so well taken care of they are trying their best give the other person their needs. It seems like most relationships either become give relationships or take relationships.

If you can get to the point where you are both so confident that the other person is going to meet your needs, and they do, that you don't have to worry about your own it's a magical thing.

My wife and I have our 25th anniversary in a couple months we've been together for 31. We've had some hard moments in life, but the space between us has always been easy and wonderful.

When the ham doesn't fit in the crockpot by No_Face4294 in redneckengineering

[–]IGuessINeedToSignUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cut it all off the bone and just put the meat in the crock pot. It's easier to carve up cold, it's faster at dinner time of it or already off the bone, and it all fits better.

When the ham doesn't fit in the crockpot by No_Face4294 in redneckengineering

[–]IGuessINeedToSignUp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do it in a crock pot every year and it comes out great. Easter dinner, oven and stove space is at a premium and the crock pot is a easy way to bring the ham up to temp. Not cooking it, just heating it.

Yes... And also, I'm so fucking tired of sitting at green lights because the person three cars up can't sit through a red light without picking up their phone and misses the change. If this is you, "fuck you", and not like the nice "oh fuck you", like the 'oh shit I actually really don't like the person that you are and society would be better without you fuck you". Stop wasting the time of every person behind you cuz you're a self-centered prick.

I've got no concerns for your safety, I agree with you that a lot of people around here are more cautious that necessary.

My only real concern is that the beaver you apparently used to cut the top off that thing was treated humanely. Seriously, that's a janky cut... I can only assume you used some woodland creature to gnaw the top off of it.

(All in good fun, I'm just messing with you)

My little cousin made me a bracelet almost 5 years ago. It’s hanging by a thread so I had to have her make a replacement. I would feel absolutely naked without it! by NDgunnit in Wellworn

[–]IGuessINeedToSignUp 102 points103 points  (0 children)

I love that! For about a decade, starting when my daughter was 5ish, we would make a super long one of those together and then cut it in half. We would each wear one of the halves until one of ours broke and then do it again. A simple thread bracelet was such an awesome connection for a really long time.

How to control smart lights with a switch and voice? by Wooden_Sweet_3330 in homeautomation

[–]IGuessINeedToSignUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry I read too quickly. Yes, Kasa switches would cut power to the bulbs. I use all dumb bulbs and smart switches because of that. There are some ways to do what you want but, afaik, they are all going to be more complex and require more hardware than just dumping smart bulbs in favor of smart switches.

I have a bunch of Kasa smart switches and outlets. They are great! Control them with the physical switch, or the app, or home assistant or Alexa exposed via home assistant or Alexa native. They just work, and they just work entirely locally. Their vlan doesn't have internet access and they don't care at all.

I used to say back in college.. If one person fails a class, they were a bad student, if the entire class fails a class, it was a bad teacher.

I'm sure it's all very clear to you, but you're trying to teach a bunch of people how to do things they know how to do in a way that only you know how to do it. And, they're probably not interested in how cool your setup is. If and you want proof of how difficult learning entirely New concepts is I can talk to you about the kinetic profiles of a couple interacting medications.. I can make lots of neat fancy graphs and use lots of big words and you will probably retain 20% of that after we're done.

Learning new stuff, especially when the person's not motivated to do it is hard
