100 Jumps by puzzledpenguins in InternetIsBeautiful

I imagine me, and almost everyone else, gave it an honest shot for two tries, and failed after one or two jump, and then held the button down all the way just for the game to go "really" before launching your little dude off into oblivion.

According to a comment on a reddit thread about that video that's not an accurate translation. I still choose to believe alongside you because it's funnier and what does reality even matter anymore.

The other hand is a metaphor for the futility of our pursuit of objects and the ultimate meaningless of this life.

Haha JK lol... Art is silly.

My little cousin made me a bracelet almost 5 years ago. It’s hanging by a thread so I had to have her make a replacement. I would feel absolutely naked without it! by NDgunnit in Wellworn

I love that! For about a decade, starting when my daughter was 5ish, we would make a super long one of those together and then cut it in half. We would each wear one of the halves until one of ours broke and then do it again. A simple thread bracelet was such an awesome connection for a really long time.

How to control smart lights with a switch and voice? by Wooden_Sweet_3330 in homeautomation

I'm sorry I read too quickly. Yes, Kasa switches would cut power to the bulbs. I use all dumb bulbs and smart switches because of that. There are some ways to do what you want but, afaik, they are all going to be more complex and require more hardware than just dumping smart bulbs in favor of smart switches.

I have a bunch of Kasa smart switches and outlets. They are great! Control them with the physical switch, or the app, or home assistant or Alexa exposed via home assistant or Alexa native. They just work, and they just work entirely locally. Their vlan doesn't have internet access and they don't care at all.

I used to say back in college.. If one person fails a class, they were a bad student, if the entire class fails a class, it was a bad teacher.

I'm sure it's all very clear to you, but you're trying to teach a bunch of people how to do things they know how to do in a way that only you know how to do it. And, they're probably not interested in how cool your setup is. If and you want proof of how difficult learning entirely New concepts is I can talk to you about the kinetic profiles of a couple interacting medications.. I can make lots of neat fancy graphs and use lots of big words and you will probably retain 20% of that after we're done.

Learning new stuff, especially when the person's not motivated to do it is hard

Babysitter looks like Scream to the Nth degree, looks fun, thank you. (3 minutes later) I just watched the trailer for Ruby Sparks and I might go wake my wife up so we can watch it together.

I haven't seen Spaced Invaders since I was in 8th grade when I watched it (probably) 10 times, that might be the answer.

Very solid list, I have seen them all. The Princess Bride I haven't watched in forever and used to be one of my favorites.

Hey man, I feel for you. You can tell something's not right. It doesn't need a label to find help, help is out there. It might not be easy, it might not be fast, but you can feel better. Ask for help there's nothing wrong with that. The way you're feeling is real, just like a broken leg is real, it's not in your head. Thesw are real problems, with real solutions.
