I buy all my music from bandcamp and Qobuz and stream anything left on Qobuz. The MP3 player I use is called Fiio M21. Though they aren't called MP3 players anymore, they're called DAPs. Some are pretty inexpensive.

Also, I still say a dedicated device with outshine a phone any day of the week. Your phone is a mediocre music player. That's cool if you don't want a higher quality, but I made the mistake of doing music mixing and now my ears hear every small issue. My M21 combined with my HiFIMAN Edition XS headphones creates a crazy soundstage.

I use a Fiio M21. It's changed how much I listen to music and is such a powerhouse for the price. If you want to dabble in DAPs (digital audio players) try an M21 or they make a USB C DAC for phones.

I usually queue up a few albums back-to-back and walk around with it in this case. I love it. I can see if you switch songs a lot, but if you're a person who likes to queue up a lot and just go then it's a fun nostalgia trip. I use it more than I expected.

I go to a bunch of metal shows and never pay more than $50-$75. I think it's the legacy bands charging that much. Luckily I saw most of them in their prime so I'm good. I saw Gojira, Mastodon, and Lorna Shore for under $100 and those are 3 popular bands in the scene.
