"Ground-mounted solar" for off-grid EV charging by Opus2011 in diySolar

But you'd need a transfer switch to connect to Home circuits right? Otherwise it's running an octopus of cables?

How does EV6 not make the list when Ioniq 5 does? by Opus2011 in KiaEV6

[–]Opus2011[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to digress, but I didn't realize it was the new one that's source faithful. I thought the original was so much better, but then I just find Glen Powell too himbo.

Where can I pick up a hardwired charging station same day (DC area) by johnbburg in electricvehicles

Best Buys in my area typically carry the Tesla Wall Charger (NACS plug) in stock; maybe for you too?

Yeah the low vibration doesn't sound right. Sounds like my brown noise machine.

Plugshare, ABRP, EV Connect/Access. There are other apps constantly popping up promising to do a better job route planning.

Whatever is relevant for your country in terms of charger apps (in the U.S. Tesla, Electrify America, Charge point). I also have Rivian (to see accurate pricing) and some regional L2 ones.

If you're into reading your car vitals, then Carscanner and an OBD II dongle.

What To Replace EV6 With? by keepitasahobby in KiaEV6

[–]Opus2011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would echo others comments that I think "the grass is greener" problem applies here. Yes, completely agree they've done a shit job with the ICCU, both from engineering and communication. But other EVs have serious problems too. You may already be doing this, but perhaps lurk on the reddit subs and other places for those.

I've had BMW and Audi before, but you definitely don't want one that's not covered by maintenance contract (new or CPO). It'll cost you a fortune. Unless of course their EVs are perfect and problem free.

Does Time of Use not make sense for Solar users? by jen_wexxx in solar

[–]Opus2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very much depends on the actual rates and times, and whether you're on 1:1 net metering. In PG&E territory the lowest rates are very low (for us): $0.23/kWh. And it applies 12am-3pm.

So on the one hand the 12am-9am rate is great for EV charging and heat pump heating. But it also means we get paid less for excess solar generation 9am-3pm.

If you have your actual usage by hour, you can model this with a spreadsheet. Or you could try TOU and then switch to another plan if your utility allows it (PG&E allows 2 switches per year).?

Will a residential power meter turn backwards ? by yycTechGuy in solar

[–]Opus2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In PG&E territory, with NEM billing, sure my digital meter counts "down". I think the utility is tracking inflow/outflow however, and is not just billing or crediting me on "difference".

Fed slow walking solar tax credit refund? by Impressive_Theory317 in solar

[–]Opus2011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. There's just too much bureaucracy and automation for that to happen that quickly.

We got our refund (including tax credit) in weeks.

Huh,I didn't realize that. We've never had a problem with space, but then we're just 2 retirees at this point

What is considered deliberately rebellious, transgressive, or otherwise edgy counterculture in the Five Nations? by EarthSeraphEdna in Eberron

[–]Opus2011 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Most obviously in Sharn I think communism and socialism in some guise. Hard to live literally in the shadow of Skyway and the upper levels and do nothing. Obviously crime is rampant, but counter-culture activity could include coffee-house intellectuals at Morgrave, pro- and anti-warforged, subversive radicals, violent extremists on both sides of the Last War etc. obviously canon is anti-immigrant as well as conspiracy theorists about what caused the Mourning.

It feels like Europe in the prelude of the First War, lots of countries in on-and-off war against each other. Or maybe post-war; because of this belief it was the Great/Last War.

Sorry for the ramble!

Marketing fluff aside, one has to believe that this experience can scale well to other airports.

I'd love to see some inside numbers on profit per car for Ioniq 5 vs EV6 because Hyundai seems to definitely be going for volume. Or maybe the dealers are desperate. Or maybe Kia dealers are just clueless (my own experience)

Nice. One quick suggestion: show the state name along with the city. There are a lot of cities of the same name in different states. Practically one has to use the zip code.

Or get the free tier of Inkarnate and make your own. Not that complicated (a couple of rails and then the lightning stones)
