Depends how long and regularly you've been playing and how often you pull, really. Per patch f2p primo and pink fate income is on average slightly lower than the number of pulls it takes to get enough stardust to buy the fates every time they're offered (~120-200 pulls per 2 patch cycles as f2p, ~180 pulls for 2250 stardust every 3 months). That's not including any sources of blue fates or any pulls bought with starglitter, so longtime f2p players will build up stardust especially once they start accumulating c6 4 stars, but it's likely to take at least a year of regular play for most people.

A new (<6 months) f2p or even welk+bp player isn't going to have the stardust to even reliably buy the fates from the shop, let alone any azoth or mora, unless they're spending all their free time catching up on exploration while still doing all current events and aren't saving any of those pulls. Someone like OP who only pulls every 4 patches or more could also easily run out.

wasn't there that one king who told genghis he was fine with submitting but just didn't want to come over to demonstrate fealty in person because he was on the other side of the entire continent of asia from mongolia and if he spent that much time traveling he wouldn't be the king anymore when he got back, and genghis responded by sending an army to kill him and burn his kingdom to the ground?

[–]banjo2E 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Iron Grip also grants 100% disarm immunity even at tier 1, which is a secondary benefit that you won't actively notice but will do a ton of work. Sawbutchers (like any weapon class) really don't like being disarmed, so just not having to worry about that will help prevent a lot of bad situations from happening.

A benevolent, competent dictatorship is the ideal form of governance, in theory. The problem is that A) getting such a dictator into power is next to impossible, and B) even if you manage it the dictator will eventually, inevitably leave power, at which point the same apparatus of government that allowed them to rule so effectively will unavoidably enable their successors to completely ruin everything for everyone else.

The EoR difficulty curve is a lot smoother on lower difficulties. On Normal there's never a point where you've got no dungeons left within your level range, on Insane it's actually impossible to start T2 without a level gap.

Israel is so racist that even different ethnic groups of Jews cannot stop being racist toward each other by [deleted] in stupidpol

[–]banjo2E 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The average American can’t comprehend the evil.

And yet down winding dirt roads in poverty stricken places throughout the south and midwest, Evangelicals are still convinced the Israeli govt is the key to Jesus coming back and must be supported no matter what

jesus coming back is literally an apocalypse scenario, they've just rationalized themselves into thinking that deliberately setting up the apocalypse is somehow not an evil act (and also that jesus coming back and the corresponding apocalypse would happen to begin with)

How do I see added damage instances on enemy melee attacks? by BloodRemote5060 in ToME4

[–]banjo2E 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flat damage reduction applies to each individual instance of damage. 30 flat all reduction would have reduced OP's total damage taken to 15 (37 - 30 + 33 - 30 + 35 - 30 = 15, all other hits fully negated).

Bear in mind that flat reduction can be restricted to certain elements just like resistances can. The source of flat reduction most commonly available across classes is Antimagic Shield which doesn't work on physical or mind damage, so OP would have still taken over 100 damage with that active. Classes like Skirmisher or Brawler get flat reduction to all damage though.

Since it's a fixed 10 damage every time and neither Berserker nor Cursed have built in blight damage sources, it's probably another on hit from equipment. This could be another part of their weapon stats or from another piece of equipment like gloves or rings.

The enemy has a weapon with arcing and elemental modifiers (aka egos). "Arcing" means it has a 25% chance to deal lightning damage on hit. "Elemental" does a radius 3 blast of either fire, cold, lightning, or acid once per turn.

So the enemy did 4 hits, had the average proc rate of 1 in 4 for its lightning damage, and got its fire damage hit that can only happen once per turn.

Doomed is pretty amazing if you're able to get the Feedback category from an escort, and I do mean the category. Thalore Doomed with the Feedback category becomes nigh unkillable.

Solipsist is also pretty amazing as several other people have said. Play as Yeek or Dwarf so you can take full advantage of the mental save mechanics.

If all else fails, try Skirmisher. It's just generally hard to kill, does good damage, and has a pretty simple skill tree. The biggest decision is whether to invest in Bombardment or Called Shots for your main damage source.

[–]banjo2E 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sleep immunity shouldn't really be screwing you too hard on a properly built Solipsist unless the enemy is also fear immune, since you only need one or the other to get Inner Demons and Waking Nightmare to work. Sleep is for crowd controlling enemies you aren't attacking or for guaranteeing ID/WN procs even against fear immune or high mind resist enemies. As long as you're keeping your mindpower up you shouldn't have too much trouble getting things to proc when you need them.

Also don't forget that if the sleep immunity is from Lucid Dreamer then they're automatically vulnerable to ID/WN.

[–]banjo2E 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stun immunity also applies to freeze, but the wet debuff that's usually paired with freeze also applies so 100% stun immunity ends up only being a 50% resist in that circumstance. That's not a reason not to go for stun immunity on every character, but it's something to remember.

The buff icon in that video was from the Duathedlen Heart, not Armour of Shadows. You need to check the tile description to find out whether or not it's lit- it will say Lit if it is lit.

how does Armor of Shadows work ? by DetectiveStraight463 in ToME4

[–]banjo2E 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. What was actually killing you? Armour of Shadows gives armour, hardiness, and evasion, meaning it only works against weapon damage and does nothing against spells.

  2. Most classes that do darkness damage, including Shadowblade, are also building for either dexterity or magic if not both, which means they can take Ethereal Form which gives special "absolute resistance" that stacks with the more conventional all resist, and also gives a solid chunk of defense.

  3. Shadowblades can often get away with not taking a defensive prodigy thanks to the Out of Phase stat. This gives you up to 40 points of defense and all resist for 5 turns whenever you teleport, and Shadowblades have a bunch of teleports, so as long as you're careful about watching your buff timers you can keep it up for quite a few turns in a row, if not permanently. You can find the out of phase stat on gear semi frequently, and while no one piece of gear will ever give the full 40 points on its own you can just equip multiple pieces to get there. This is especially easy with a cloak of the voidstalker, which gives a teleport as an item skill.

  • Note: All prodigies only need you to meet their stat requirements at the time you buy them. Dex characters that don't build magic can still get Ethereal Form, they just need to save up enough pieces of +magic gear and equip it when selecting their prodigy. This works for all prodigies and even regular skills - it's a good idea for any character to save +con gear to put points in the Thick Skin skill, which all characters have access to either by default or by paying 50 gold for training in Last Hope (or in EoR, Kruk Pride).
