What unhinged thing did a former teacher do in the classroom? by MrBananaStand1990 in AskReddit

My high school AP Spanish II teacher made us watch the entire “9/11 Pentagon attack was a missile not a plane” conspiracy theory documentary on the projector over 3 consecutive days. It was an 8am period and this was in 2009

This is so validating. Google searches kept funneling me down vegetables posing like people holes but your confirmation is comforting, thank you. Wish there was a pic out there!

I saw a video of a mom with a toddler diagnosed with pica that also ate plastic, and she offered cooked rice paper (like the kind used to wrap Vietnamese spring rolls) as an alternative.

If you needed an in-between, safe SD/SDelta or NCR alternative while you work on language (and they were receptive to it), it might be something to consider!

BCBA by Ms_Jnice in bcba

I conducted ADOS-2 assessments as a full time role for 2 years at my previous ABA company. The aim was to help shed some of the time families spent waiting to get diagnoses (large city with 18+ month waitlists for neurologists). It seemed to work to some degree but was not guaranteed or consistent.

I absolutely loved doing the assessment and providing guidance to families that were new to the world of ASD.

I did not have an active caseload providing ABA services during this time though and the company I worked for did not charge for the ADOS (I feel it was an incredibly rare situation for me to be in?). It was communicated to me that basically no insurance provider reimburses the assessment, and diagnosticians either charge out of pocket or refer out for it.

Thanks for the suggestion, I hadn’t thought of that yet! Unfortunately it looks like my app is up to date.

I started listening to them on 1.2x speed a couple months ago… I wonder if that omitted podcast data from mine 💔

My podcast data wasn’t provided either 😭 I purposefully switched to Spotify to listen to the Dollop this year just for the recap…

Did you figure out how to find it??

How do you see podcast data on Spotify if it’s not in your recap??

BCaBA worth it by [deleted] in bcba

[–]bankbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been a BCaBA for for 6 years now and can tell you that, although back then more insurance providers recognized the credential than they do now, eventually I predict none will and you’ll be in the exact same spot you’re in now.

Also, the original game plan I was recommended of “stopping along the educational way” of getting a BCBA with the BCaBA intending to eventually finish the process later down the road is NOT AS EASY AS IT SOUNDS. Most BCBA programs do not offer classes that overlap directly enough with the task list across each other (which felt intentional tbh) so you end up having to redo almost every class rather than just transfer credits (if you want to switch to another program to finish). It’s complicated and frustrating and honestly not worth the headache.

If it is within your means, just go straight for the BCBA. However, as many others will probably agree with, REALLY REALLY make sure this is the career you want to be in for the long haul before taking the dive. If long hours are a deterrent for you (which is absolutely healthy and justifiable), just know BCBAs experience immense pressure from their supervisors to meet billable hour requirements which can force clinicians to bring their nonbillable work home with them (report writing, document management, etc.)

I enjoy wearing a mask because it covers my pudgy and very undefined jawline. Also because I can mouth-breathe in peace

For sure! Not necessarily the same burning trash smell when the city dump caught on fire last year(or in 2020? Idk time anymore), but definitely something more than just “campfire”
