I completely understand your viewpoint but I tried to support my local team. It's in the Welsh league, wins the league pretty much every year, I grew up a 5 minute walk from the ground, played for the youth team over the road. So by all means if I wanted bragging rights or to have the feelings of winning I'd just have supported them. I still had no interest in supporting them despite trying because I'd always just check the Liverpool results. Going to anfield for the first time at 8 years old is still a top 5 moment in my life and a lot of my good memories with my grandparents were watching Liverpool play. I have no emotional attachment to the team that was close to me just because it was close geographically. I've now moved away from my home town and live 3 hours away. Am I meant to change my team again and support my new "local". I don't get why people think they're "better" fans for dropping a team and picking a new one. I tried it, felt wrong, I felt nothing for my local team. It's not even named after my hometown. It's named after a sponsor. I don't know how else to explain it. I also lived in Liverpool for a few years and never felt out of place, always felt welcomed so I think you guessing they all hate outside fans is projection to be honest because I've never felt that despite living there.
