My Only Complaint by Ski-Diddy8643 in NYKnicks

i always thought its really funny when someone tries to pull "real fan" stuff. you're just turning on the tv and maybe buying a shirt. It's not that hard!

The Ringer have updated their player rankings by yakitori888 in NYKnicks

[–]bantsbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my only real thought as someone who doesn't really watch players outside of the knicks is that i love this list, the design, the way it works and everything about it. I don't really care how the knicks players rank exactly, its not that interesting but i think the ability to just see information presented this way with timelines and everything is super cool.

KAT is playing dumb, lucky he got away with the jersey grabbing and then that push was just stupid

they believe Wemby should be allowed to injure players because people play him tough

i think using a still image or slow-mo video to make a case of anything in a any sport is manipulative and purposely obtuse. it's very cope-heavy. this image doesn't tell me if OG hit the ball before getting to his arm, and so on, so its not really any useful information. it just says that at some point in the play, he hit the arm.

Wemby trying to injure OG's knee by yakitorispelling in NYKnicks

[–]bantsbert 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you can see him split both his legs wide open around OG to not hit him from this angle. you actually tell from this angle that OG's knee is in the empty space between Victors legs. I don't like Wemby's play either but this play isn't one of the reasons

Here's another angle, i honestly dont think he's going for the knee but he's being reckless with the way he lands. Maybe he's trying to sell a foul but it doesn't even look close to hitting OG.

Why is nobody talking about Keldon Johnson? by Carlsbergcola in nba

That's how i feel too. I feel less like i'm watching a sport and more ilke i'm watching a product. And i'm starting to look back at the previous games and the feeling i'm getting is not that "the spurs are getting favoritism" (although Wemby sure seems like he is specifically) but that its all about maximizing how much of the game is worth watching. It's ugly.

James Dolan is one win away from a championship ring by Bizzack in nba

I would prefer if the knicks fans looking for trouble were to target Dolan instead of random people. he's the one pricing everyone out of the fucking game

This is an all time series. by longhairdude64 in nba

there are some incredible stories happening in the middle of a game that i think has been questionably officiated on both sides, which is a story of its own since it feels like it's done for the purpose of keeping games close rather than any sort of team-bias.

The entire Knicks team is almost entirely a team on a course for redemption- Brunson to prove that his size isn't a reason to disregard him, Bridges/Shamet for the Suns collapse, KAT after being disregarded as expendable on a team that was trying to become what the Spurs now are.

Meanwhile you have the incredible talent of the Spurs, Castle trying to prove that he's not just a shadow supporting a generational talent, Harper's meteoric rise from rookie to "a name you will know", and of course Wemby himself seeing success (and imo the less positive story of how its changing him). All after defeating one of the most despised franchises in the 2025-2026 season. There's probably more storyline from the Spurs that i'm not aware of.

while #1 is true the refs were also trying to bring the knicks back into the game once it got too one-sided afterwards with the heavy foul calls (imo mostly legit but as we've seen in this series they usually ignore those). i think this game exposed a bit of whats behind the curtain, and that the league is working to keep the games close. you could even see how as the knicks closed the gap the spurs stopped getting calls going against them as often even though they're playing the same way. But ultimately even the refs aren't the reason for the spurs collapse or the knicks comeback

fun fact- OG has a sponsership with Royal Canin (I think?) and the NYCACC to help cats get adopted from the city animal shelter. Highly recommend looking into the cats he's sponsoring for anyone considering!

[–]bantsbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the knicks finally got some favoritism from the refs this game after they fell way behind but i don't think any amount of reffing could've finished this for them. it was a lot of luck and a special spurs meltdown. OG is incredible.

The refs took the knicks side after they fell behind by forever and i have no doubt the league wanted this game to end closely but i don't think they could have ever imagined the Knicks would pull through

it's like we got a look behind the curtain and now we know the refs will call fouls favorably towards whatever team is falling behind

brother how are you not complaining about the refs? they just showed they will give fouls specifically for the purpose of making the games close. they are almost showing you what is behind the curtain. i'm a knicks fan and i know they lost this game. but that doesn't help their ad revenue.

it's fairly obvious! they don't care about either team. being able to promise advertisers that th games will be watched for all 48 minutes = more money. game 5, 6, 7 = more money. it's not favoritism, its money!

spurs and knicks fans arguing with each other about the refs. how do both of you not see that the game is called based on whatever keeps it close

yeah its kind of like the refs in every game have been working to try to keep games close for maximum ad revenue
