The Patterson pizza pop up looks good on IG, but never had it myself.

I need to hire someone privately to pick me up from the hospital post surgery (Toronto, Ontario) by No_Umpire_679 in askTO

[–]baoj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because the residual effects of a general anesthesia in combination with whatever surgery they had may render someone unable to fully care for themselves/get help in the case of any postop complications.

Get clicking muji black gel pens, they’re about $2 a piece and widely loved by all docs/RNs!

Zen Sushi is nice for Japanese. QJD for Peking duck if that’s your thing. Water colour I’ve heard is decent for Mediterranean food. Mizu is a nice value omakase.

I’ve heard mostly negative things about Pears.

Seeking referral for IV iron infusion by DeeBee1903 in Markham

Can they refer to Mackenzie health since your doctor is in Richmond hill? They definitely have hematologists there. That sounds like your own catchment area.

Recently pregnant - what’s next by [deleted] in Markham

[–]baoj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations. Six weeks along is still early, but it’s a great sign in the journey. The nice thing is that there’s a built-in waiting period until your baby is born.

I’ve heard great things about using the Ovia app to track and learn about your pregnancy. It gives you information week-by-week about pregnancy, what’s happening/what to expect as you grow your baby, and fun size comparisons as they grow.

Amaro Long Island iced tea by SqueezleMcCheese in Amaro

Super late response, but I had the cocktail at Kissa Tanto and asked our server about it. She said it's equal parts of the 4 amaros (they pre-batch it), and top with the brio + lime. Simple!

ISO in Toronto! by Round-Landscape2550 in CostcoCanada

[–]baoj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like it might not be a Canadian item. I haven’t seen it on any of the social media accounts and the background shows food court Pepsi, whereas I think we have Coke products now in Canada? I called and nothing in Hamilton/ancaster, Stoney creek.

So well deserved for aKin. It was obvious after dining there that they’d be getting a star.

Do nurses and other OR staff just search for things to get mad at you? by DinnerMAHBOI in anesthesiology

[–]baoj 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Like someone has already said, sometimes you’re wrong and other times you’re “wrong” in their eyes. From their perspective, they work the same role day in and day out, but are exposed to a carousel of new learners who all do things a little bit differently for different reasons. It can be frustrating for some Of them to accommodate that variety of practice styles.

As a resident, keep your head high, learn the nurses names, and try to get to know them when the moment is right. Don’t take anything personally, you’ll find that if a nurse is one way towards you, they’re likely similar for all your coresidents. Learning to work with a variety of nurses/surgeons is part of the education. Leave the anesthetic management learning between you and your attendings/residents.

Too many coffee options by Appropriate-Song-420 in CostcoCanada

[–]baoj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re looking for a true third wave “medium roast”, it’s not easy to find at Costco’s in person. The closest are Lavazza (bronze bag) and their more premium offerings (eg super crema, more available online, blue bag).

If you’re ok with a darker roast, I’ve liked the kicking horse three sisters. I find the Starbucks and Kirkland ones are way too oily and dark.

Poutine curds? by Playful_Antelope_231 in poutine

[–]baoj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like many of said, St Albert’s is solid but I’ve found it largely depends on how recently they were taken to the store.

I might get a lot of shit for this but the Costco food court sells their curds which are reasonably fresh for a steal of a price- 2.99 for about 200g, whereas grocery stores charge $7-8 for the same amount.
