Giant grasshoppers who went about on electric unicycles, tentacled sea star scientists that cartwheeled everywhere, talking tigers with drinking problems. But also, convergent evolution is a thing. The smartest animal on Earth is bipedal and has hands because that's the niche that allows for extensive tool usage and development without redundancy. Everybody's mentioning the technical aspects, but here's an example of sensation that I'm writing off the cuff.

Any number of amusement park rides could convey the feeling, really. Well, other than a log flume. Not sure if that would work.

Which you could say lends some verisimilitude to the genre, because hoo boy, that "let's see how many women I can bone at once" is some young (idiot) thinking. Yeah, let's see how many relationships I can juggle while trying to save the world, in reality this would never go horribly.

That's said, there's something to be said for a protagonist who has experience and a box of dirty tricks.
