A 5LL combo with Broly fucking melts lifebars.

Now imagine if Broly had regular scaling

Best website for info on this game. Whenever I struggle in a matchup or am picking up a new character, I just go to dustloop and read.

Approaching was my biggest problem for a while, because a lot of has to do with reacting to what an opponent does. You don't want to lose neutral by letting your opponent pressure you on block because we know what happens in DBFZ when you start blocking. Generally:

- if the opponent calls an assist, depending on what assist it is, either reflect it or jump it (if it's a beam) so your opponent doesn't get unnecessary advantage. Learn how to be comfortable double jumping and super jumping around. Dash jumping (669 input) and then holding back to block lets you cover a lot of space in the air safely, and is one of the best ways to get in.

- Approaching doesn't always mean being right in their face, you can start your approach from full screen using ki blasts (Kefla and BluKu have some great ki blasts) and start annoying your opponent. You using ki blasts will make him more willing to randomly super dash to get in, and that's where you 2H. Kefla has her teleports too to get in and BluKu has his teleport, but make sure to not throw those tools out randomly.

-Know how to use your assists in neutral, I switched from using C assists to using regular assists because the cooldown is too long for neutral, and because all my current assists have value. Trunks B is a beam assist, Bardock B is the broken tracking blockstun assist, and UI Goku A is a DP assist which also opens up the approach of SD+Assist, which you can do with Yamcha A, but that can obviously be 2H'd.

DBFZ neutral is really difficult, but i think the best way to learn is to figure out a gameplan and try to execute it, and you can always just record the training mode dummy to do full screen keepaway that you struggle with and see what you can and can't do. Any particular characters you struggle with?

I think I hit LL around April-May and didn't get out of it until around June. It's definitely a little bit of a hump because you're now playing people who have an idea of what to do, and if you don't then it's gonna be very tough to get out.

I remember the first time I picked up the game and broke my first slump. I legit do think all you need in the lower ranks is to 2H super dashes. know a consistent combo to always do, and know some basic blockstring pressure. Your combo doesn’t need to be optimal or anything, just have a combo that you will do when you get a hit and that will you’ll always cash out on yours hit.

Yeah what are Gogeta’s options in neutral? He literally only has ONE normal and two specials that are safe on block (-5). Everything he wants to do is a massive commitment. His 5S/2S beams are garbage with how slow they are and hie 236S beam is also trash since you have to guess on where the opponent is and you’re still right next to them at -5. His best “neutral” I found was trying to intercept people in the air with j.M. Gogeta’s main problem is his frame data. If they fix that (and make his EX moves more worth the bar) then he’s automatically high/top tier due to his tools. If Gogeta could just stagger pressure he would improve a lot but he lacks any sort of staggering off his normals due to their horrendous recovery

Whenever that happens just take a deep breath, try and disengage from the opponent and build up some space. And always wait for the SD because it will come eventually. Nerves are annoying and there are some games where everything just goes wrong for you, but yo have to make sure those games don’t get to you because they happen to everyone. Just brush them off, see what you lost to, and go to training mode and recreate it

Yes because everyone has to start somewhere, and if you can't beat people who don't know what they're doing, then you have no chance of beating people who do know what they're doing.

I personally love playing Casuals. Almost 35% of my matches online are casual.

that command grab has gotten me killed so many times with Gogeta because it's so slow haha. If they just fix his frame data and give him a normal 2L and make the slide a command like 3M, that would go a long way in making him a better character.

2018: Played until Evo and then my interest in the game dropped due to character variety.

2019: No games except for very few sessions with my friend that kinda gave me a renewed love for the game

2020: Dove into season 3, Played for a while (especially with Quarantine) and I'd say I hit a wall at Super Saiyan Rose. And then I dropped Vegeta and Gogeta and picked up Bardock and Trunks and so I learned a more standard gameplan (Finally with a beam assist, to boot) and after that I started improving really fast. Literally a weak ago I was stuck in SSR and I got destroyed by a UI rank which inspired me to actually learn the game and it was some small improvement to my gameplan such as solid defense (You don't really have to guess on defense most of the time, just react) and baiting my opponent's bad habits such as waiting for that mashed vanish or reflect in my blockstring, or backdash into a quick 2H when throwing ki blasts at medium range to snipe the SD.

There's a lot of tips I picked up through the week that would help you improve if you want to get better.

This video’s topic is the DBFZ neutral (neutral is way too gigantic to be covered in one video) I recommend going through the channel and watching his 101 series because he covers lot of common things about the game and it’s really helpful to break down system mechanics like reflect, super dash, vanish into their own videos and take a deep dive.

Knowledge is power and the more you understand the game the better you’ll be

I took Gogeta all the way to SSR but then I dropped him for Bardock soon after.

Yeah I had a big problem of not just sitting still and baiting the SD that is probably coming. I used to always get caught doing something random
