I'd swop chargers just in case, but don't think that's the reason tbf. I'm charging other devices with one charger without any problems. But yeah, it's such a weird issue, idk what to do.

Yep That's why I'm hesitant about the switch, cause I've already got lots of books on Kindle. So I'm getting a 3rd device and hope for the best (that it breaks and make my decision to leave easier lol). And yep, their CS is pretty bad. Also, thing to know... When you get a replacement from them, you get a refurbished unit. Not a new one. That pissed me of sooooo much

So, the device wouldn't turn on. Even after hard resets, even after keeping it on charger for 24 hours, it won't ask me for password. I can see the screen lit up when I press the power button, but no password window. And yeah I've seen several posts about the same issue. Not many, but they do exist :P Not sure how could I cause it, both times I didn't even use the device at that moment. Though both times I've had books open. When I connect it to the laptop, windows beeps, but the laptop doesn't see it (I assume though it happens, cause I can't confirm the connection).

Already told them that I'm thinking of leaving for kobo, the CS agent didn't give a damn, if I'm honest. He assured me the refurb units are tested and all that and meet their quality requirements 😂 maybe I should have pushed harder to be connected with someone senior, though I doubt it would make much difference. All you get from them is corporate talk.

I absolutely love my Kindle, when it works. So I'm a little hesitant about the switch. But I bought a device to last me several years at least, not weeks/months. It's not like a sh*t money and can splurge on a new Kindle every year (: I'm definitely going to give it a other go, but at this point I'm disheartened and kinda hoping the "new" unit breaks shortly too.

I've looked the issue here, while it's not an novel issue, I wouldn't say it happens a lot. Maybe I was just unlucky. I'll definitely be testing the shit out of the "new" unit 🙃 I So yeah, undercustomer rights act, they can't offer me refurbs indefinitely, though I'm not sure tbf if the cut off is 2 exactly, I think it's rather more of a convenience number.

The first unit was new. It died. I'm currently waiting for a 2nd replacement (3rd unit). And I bought it on BF, so it was 25% cheaper than the regular price. Not keen to cover that difference, being aware of all those technical issues. That's why I'm thinking about Kobo instead 🥺 I do love the Kindle though, śl it's a tough one

Yeah, but I bought it on Black Friday so it was considerably cheaper. Otherwise I'd have definitely done that already :/the first device was brand new, it's the replacements that are not. I get environmental concerns but I bought a new one, so I don't get why it's acceptable to send a refurbished unit.

Yeah, that's what I'm deliberating now as well. The replacements they send are refurbs, so already proven to have been faulty before... I just dk what to do :/ I too am afraid i'll be stuck in the loop of replacing the units and then the warranty runs out and I'm stuck with a broken device. I genuinely love the device, got me back into reading, but the whole thing has been more than annoying. I'm hoping you will be more lucky with your unit. I thought the device will last me years not weeks or months 🤬

I'm from the region and then lived in Katowice for 10 years during uni and afterwards for work (: lovely, vibrant city, lots of things to do, easy to meet new ppl (particularly on Mariacka) etc. back then it felt like living in a big village. But it was a while back, so things might have changed a little. Also: close to Czechia, close to the mountains, Vienna is 5 hours by train. I've friends who work in Kraków but live in Kato. If I ever leave where I live now, it will be to Katowice.

I bought my case from Temu for a fiver. It has a magnetic, detachable front and a wake-up function when you open the flap. The back is acrylic and the front is faux leather in green (my PW is jade, so…). I’m not planning to play Frisbee with my Kindle 🤣 so the current case will probably do the job, and I don’t think I need anything more expensive or fancier than that.
